Not sure about a battering but confidence is building in this group of players. The team hasn't quite gelled yet and Mousinho is still searching for his best 11. Still, I'll go for a 2-0 win (Robertson, Yengi)
I still feel confident about tonight, despite the presence of the dreaded Sky cameras.
Mousinho is still searching for his best team and there will be plenty of players who can consider themselves unlucky not to make the first team tonight. It will be interesting to see if he rotates any of...
Wasn't much in it early doors, but we took our chances and Beckles gave us an o.g. Surprisingly comfortable second half. Obviously, the O's need their missing players back quickly to be competitive.
Very encouraging signs for us. We have genuine competition in every position and don't look like...
We've actually been pretty fast starters in recent years. The wheels normally come off in Autumn or after Christmas.
Never like playing a promoted team in their first home game. Could do with a win but a draw might be likelier. Encouragingly, we seem to have a much stronger bench this season...
1-1 draw was a fair result in the end. Left it late for our equaliser. Whyte and Scully aren't quite there yet, but Mousinho made full use of our attacking depth from the bench.
Not perfect but we should improve a few games in.
Can't disagree with this. I think it reflects the general lack of strength in this division compared to the last few years.
Oxford greatly underperformed against their xg last season, so a regression to the norm wouldn't be too surprising. Rodrigues could just be the player to transform them...
I hope you're right, but don't be surprised if you get something on Saturday. I know you shouldn't read too much into pre-season friendlies but we've been pretty underwhelming. Not sure we'll hit our stride until a few weeks in.
At least we'll be spared Joey Barton on the touchline
It probably reflects the fact that the league doesn't look as strong up top as the last couple of seasons.
Derby are firm faves with the bookies but they still don't have a huge amount of depth in the squad, unlike Ipswich or Wednesday last season. It may look different when the window closes...
I agree with this, injuries permitting. The player under most pressure there is Tom Lowery if, as you say, we bring in a new AM.
We have good cover now across the squad, which should hopefully prevent our typical 1-2 month period where we barely pick up a point, which completely scuppered our...
Strong rumours that we're trying to get Chelsea's Tino Anjorin on a season loan. He was at our training ground yesterday.
Very talented 21 year old attacking midfielder who has struggled with injuries last couple of years. Would be a gamble but definitely a difference maker if we can keep him...
Piggot will be a good signing. Never fit in at Ipswich but had a decent season on loan with us. Was never going to dislodge Colby Bishop but provided good support and has a great attitude.
No reason why he won't score a few this season, as he did a few years back at Wimbledon.
I cannot believe some of the Port Vale fans are still, STILL banging on that we were telling them this was some sort of amazing superleague last summer. For the last time - NOBODY SAID THIS!!!! IT'S ALL IN YOUR HEADS AND FOR SOME REASON, YOU CANNOT SHIFT IT!!!!
We're all well aware that this is...
Abu Kamara has come in on loan from Norwich for the season. 19 year old striker who can play anywhere up front. Got some game time in the Championship for Norwich towards the back end of last season.
Looks like useful backup for what we already have.
