I watched his Concord Rangers side on a number of occasions. Hard working, difficult to break down, quick out of defence, and no prima-donnas. If he can get the personalities right at Lincoln, the football will follow.
It's about time Lincoln went back up. They might just do it now.
Chairmen and CEO's spend an awful lot of time talking about 'Top 6 budgets,' 'Bottom 6 budgets,' 'Competitive budgets,' and the relative financial strengths and weaknesses of their rivals. From experience (and believe me, as the former chair of a Supporters Trust I have plenty) these statements...

An article I wrote recently for the NLP about the efforts by supporters of Peacehaven & Telscombe FC to take the club into community ownership. Now updated and reproduced on my website with the typos...

Some words, and a few pictures, from the SCFL Challenge Cup Final between Lancing and Newhaven today.
A collection of Sussex seaside play-off matches left Worthing promoted to the Ryman Premier League whilst Bognor count the cost of fixture congestion...words and pictures also featuring Dulwich Hamlet, Faversham Town and Hythe Town...
I wrote this article back in February for Late Tackle Magazine, and an abridged version also appeared in the Non League Paper, but they've now moved on to new issues so I thought I'd share it here. Featuring Worthing FC and owner George 'Undateable' Dowell...
You're absolutely right. Mind you, if I'd listed all of his clubs I'd have run out of room! I was the Chair of the Supporters Trust at Crawley whilst he was there, I recalled that he'd come from Brentford to us, and I saw him at Wembley for Millwall. Sadly I just forgot about Orient.
Sorry.
Greenwich Borough yesterday beat Croydon Athletic 2-0 to confirm the SCEFL title. Sadly they did it in front of only 75 spectators, which I doubt will be sustainable in their new ground (well, Cray Valley PM's ground, which they've purchased), so I do hope that the people of the Borough come out...

A little something from the Ryman South, a six pointer for two teams at opposite ends of the table, East Grinstead Town and Hastings United. With enough mud for a hippopotamus and the Pompey Chimes sung by a...
Here's the follow up to the above post, a trip to the Sham Siro for the Horsham derby and entitled, 'Put a little lard in your heart.'

I was going to stick this on the groundhopping thread but couldn't find it (!), so I thought I'd put it here. I spent the weekend watching the contenders for the (former Sussex County League) title, and here's the first article, following Eastbourne Town and entitled 'Bringing George Michael to...

I had to write a report on Hampton & Richmond Borough v Billericay Town on Saturday for the NLP. I thought I'd share it here, having added back the six hundred words I'd have liked to use but had to...
I spent two weeks following the Rocks of Bognor through two matches in the FA Trophy, one in the Ryman Premier League and one in the Sussex Senior Cup. Here's the result.

I hope you enjoy it...
A longer version of something I wrote for Non League Daily about the impact of televised football- and social media- on non league attendances. I'd be glad of your thoughts, as I'm looking to shape a similar themed article for print media...
I quite enjoyed it- the second half, anyway. The first half the wind was by far the most important factor, and both teams continued to loft the ball into the air despite this.
http://www.townsendaround.co.uk/football/rocks-rock-gulls-and-move-into-fa-trophy-semi-finals/ A few pics from Bognor Regis Tn v Torquay Utd in the FA Trophy. Lots of words to go with them in seven days or so, after the Sussex Senior Cup Semi Final and a Ryman Premier fixture v VCD Athletic.
They've sold a lot of season tickets, certainly. But they still have a large proportion left, and I'm not sure that there are that many tourists desperate to visit a large number of our PL clubs. And if you're a season ticket holder and don't go, they may have your money but they'll miss out on...
Walkouts with ten minutes to go are all well and good, but they've already got your money. I thought I'd share an alternative idea...http://www.townsendaround.co.uk/football/twentys-plenty-dont-walk-out-boycott-and-help-the-grassroots-game/ ...sorry for troubling you with it if it isn't...
Having seen all of the title contenders in recent weeks, Angels and Bognor were the best two out of the top eight. But is there some reason why Hamlet can't seem to play when it's muddy? Last year all over again...I'd like to see them go up, but I don't think it'll happen.
