A-ha, another Saddler. Welcome along buddy! Real pain in the backside the late postponement today and causing us a real fixture congestion headache! The only positive to take is it gives time for Tom to get back to fitness.
Haha, the first thing I thought until I googled the fella. Mind you.....imagine the way he would get his instructions across the pitch.... like a boss!! :bg:
Totally agree. Of the 'realistic' options he would be my first choice too. From what i've been reading he would tie in nicely with the on the deck passing football Smith instigated. Hes alledgedly said hes interested but no official enquiry. hmmm. He's also Wolverhampton based so the geography...
Be a real shame if he goes and I can sympathise with the Burton fans. However, as Jonny says above with a good squad in place there is no real reason it should hurt the promotion push. Walsall and Burton to occupy the top 2 places come May has got a nice ring to it and would have won a few quid...
Good shout with Eaves. He genuinely missed a 1 yard open goal against us for the sloppies a few years back. After about 20 minutes of donkey chants, he totally fell to pieces and the manager subbed him off. Comedy gold.
Good shout Jonny. Think I'd already seen a few of these but discovered there are about 20 episodes on Netflix which I am chipping through. Really entertaining series and the subject matter is always interesting. He draws people out with a quiet and reserved method of journalism and pitches...
Having watched both teams, should be a cracking game this. Gillingham wont turn up to defend and do carry a goal threat. Home advantage should edge it though so I'll go for a 3-2.
It was a really good standard of football from both teams when Gillingham came to our place recently and I would...
Welcome to the forum!!
I'm all for supporting your local team...... but in this instance I am happy to let it go and the only time I will actively condone following Leeds. :bg:
A lot of teams would have the same argument but I've got us being definitely 6 points higher:
Oldham (H): Bottled a late equaliser. +2pts
Doncaster (H): - 2pts. We scammed them with 2 late bits of brilliance by Tom. Poor performance overall and as negative as they were Donny deserved a draw...
Yep, we never seem to get any luck with cup draws. All the League 2 and non-league clubs out there and we get League 1 opposition in both rounds! Just a hunch but dont really fancy our chances in this after such a bad draw. Never say never though.
:bg1::bg1:
Stourbridge home or away for me. I work with 3 of their fans who are mouthy about their chances against us so that would be a nice one. In reality I guarantee we will draw a League 1 side away from home. :-(
To put things into perspective, Burton came to our place the other week and it was an absolute war of a game. Hard, crunching tackles flying in from all angles. All firm.....all fair!! It was great to watch. Gillingham today commonly crossed the fine line and I was sick of seeing a lot of...
No worries. I'm assuming you will be going from Birmingham New Street Station. Just stay on the train 1 stop passed the Bescot and thats Walsall town centre. Its the same line. Save you time and money. Then just use taxi to get back to ground. Not every train stops at Bescot coming back so taxi...
As stated there is nothing decent near the ground. The Saddlers Club and King George are ok but nothing special. You will probably find trouble in the Fullbrook so I would stay out of there.
A few decent pubs in Walsall town so i would go for a drink there. If if go for a pre-match drink I...
Welcome along Matt, good to have another saddler on board.
Totally agree with you on Smiths home tactics. Bury, Chesterfield, Crewe, Oldham (and Doncaster) all came and firmly planted the team bus on the line and came away with a point or better. We just had no idea how to break them down...
2 days on and and I'm still trying to work that one out Jonny!! :-(
Just not gotta let the heads drop after what felt like a defeat. We will play much worse than that and win this season. Just got to put it down as 'one of those days'.
Yep a likeable and inoffensive club from my experiences there. Quite often pop to the Pirelli if I cant get to a Saddlers away game and generally have enjoyed the matches. Going to be difficult but keep it up. Would be fine by me if the table looked just like it does now after 46 games ;-)...
