Frustrating. The biggest step up I've seen in this division against Scunny and Bolton is that if you slip up, you get punished. Two poor mistakes in the first half and we faced an uphill battle. Second half was pretty much an attack vs counter training drill but we didn't create enough clear cut...
Be interesting to see what shape we go into this one. DC tends to flip to 3-5-2 when going more conservative but I think 4-4-2 suits us more at the moment. Home record is excellent, something along the lines of 14 wins and 1 draw in the last 15, but Bolton will test us without a shadow of doubt...
Rested players and got the much deserved victory, think our squad deserves a lot more credit than it gets. Referee was very fussy for both sides. Montano, Easter, the Clarkes stood out for me. Didn't think Oxford should have took Macquire off. Taylor was always going to get the winning goal...
Interesting game, both teams had extra time in midweek but Oxford slightly more time to recover, will that cause an effect early in the season. Teams know each other very well and split results last season both in games where the other team potentially deserved to win. Could see a draw in this one.
What did Scunny think of us? I don't think we played aswell as we can and I'd like us to move back to 4-4-2 as soon as we can, so that Bodin can come back into the fold, but I don't think we embarrassed ourselves. Can we compete at this level?
A bit of both. We were edging but defended a corner poorly, not clearing our lines, then your lad 10 (who I thought was a threat and if you can get madden in with him soon you should be right up there) buried an thunderbolt. There was a bit of a momentum shift but it was helped by DC taking off...
Deserved win for Scunthorpe although disappointing to lose from a one nil lead. I don't think it was 3-1 game but pushing forward late on left us open. Very clinical finishing from scunny. Our changes didn't help us. Scunny #'s 10 and 8 stood out the most for me.
I can't for the life of me get it, I just see a lot of stuff online about expecting more transfer activity etc. It might not be a majority but there are definitely some comments online. Some people believe that we have a lot of "conference" players and would have like us to go out and replaced a...
According to the Pete O'Rourke who is usually relatively reliable we (Bristol Rovers) and Northampton are interested in Hiram Boateng from Crystal Palace on loan. Impressed last season at Plymouth in centre midfield.
I actually think over the full spectrum of Rovers fans that most are quite negative about the upcoming season, seems we've just got the positive ones on this thread. I don't think anyone would overlook Scunthorpe, obviously a very good league one side. It's understandable for those who are...
Good to see Aber can get a few league 1 bites.
Is anything actually confirmed about Madden being out? I know he's had an injury and not played much in preseason but wouldn't shock me to see him in the line up as I'm sure I hadn't seen anything confirmed.
I feel there's a real unwarranted...
Just seen some of those views after CU mentioned it on one of our threads. Is that how it's going to end up?! That's actually worse than some of the views you can get at our mess of a ground! Still overall the ground looks lovely, is that just a disadvantage of having to redo the Gate and the...
I know CU, just a little joke.
I haven't seen those pics, but couldn't really take the Mickey out of your stadium with the state of ours now could I. That being said, they might have been handy last year for you, wouldn't be able to see the goals conceded for one half and wouldn't need to see...
Now now CiderUp, no need to bring up prowed or we could bring up the little bit of spray painting City fans are usually prowed to get up!
As for that tshirt abomination, I did laugh to see on the Rovers super thread on OTIB where the city fan initially posted the original thinking a rovers fan...
