    Stickied League 1 Transfer Rumours/Confirmed Transfers 2024/25

Looks like Luke McNally is off to Burnley for circa £2 mill. It’s his first season in full-time professional football having signed from St. Pats. He hasn’t played a whole season but his physique, athleticism and staggering progress he looks like he’ll be capable of Premier League football...

    Stickied League 1 Transfer Rumours/Confirmed Transfers 2024/25

We’ve sold Ryan Williams to Perth Glory. I really liked Ryan. He’s a grafter and his work rate is exceptional. Evidently it’s his hometown club so understandable he’s moved home.

I think unless we secure promotion, he’ll be with us for a good few years yet. He looks to be in his prime right now. Starting out late in the professional game in some ways perhaps aids his longevity.

This. We have one or two who could and should be playing comfortably at that level. The rest are untried at the level above. CamBran appears to enjoy living in Oxfordshire and the lifestyle suits him. *Keeps fingers crossed he doesn’t leave now!*

My question to you would be did any of those sides ever really threaten the top six (a fleeting run of form aside)? The world isn’t against Bolton (who by the way we’re brilliant against us at the Kass). As evidenced, they performed well in part but never genuinely threatened to amass enough...

    Promotion odds

You’re missing something. I too think you’ll be in for a bit of a surprise. I don’t think anyone is suggesting League One sides are world beaters, however results speak for themselves. When sides like Sheffield Wednesday can call upon a Barry Bannan, over a season the gulf in quality is...

    Promotion odds

Top 12 might be a stretch. Anything below 8th are pretty poor and won’t ever trouble the top six. The drop in quality is quite significant, more so last season than any since we’ve been in League One. Last season budgets really played a much bigger role than in previous seasons. The top two I’d...

Is it time for a 'Managerial Merry go round' thread?

I would be staggered if a player in demand would sign for a club while the Manager/Head Coach position is uncertain. Good players just won’t sign no matter the structure unless the money on offer is ridiculous or they are desperate. A few clubs will find themselves in similar positions this...

Is it time for a 'Managerial Merry go round' thread?

His signings on the whole were brilliant. He made the odd blunder (not tying up Danny Hylton to a longer deal) and not really finding that elusive 20 goal a season striker… Otherwise if anything, we didn’t tie players down for long enough losing players for less than market value or on frees...

Is it time for a 'Managerial Merry go round' thread?

Cameron Brannagan is likely the highest earner around £6-6.5k. If he accepts a new deal you’d expect it’ll be higher than £7k. There is probably one other on at least £6k with the bulk of the starting 11 on somewhere between £2.5k - £5k. I think the realisation being that to be semi-competitive...

Is it time for a 'Managerial Merry go round' thread?

Forgive the rough guesstimates. You have the top sides who will still have players on comfortably on or above 10k (Aiden McGeady and Barry Bannan spring to mind although the former has just been released). Some of the players on better money tend to be relegated sides who just haven'tbeen able...

Is it time for a 'Managerial Merry go round' thread?

In theory, yes. League One is a different beast. Rochdale tried that very strategy and it was never going to work. It made for great entertainment (we had a cracking Tuesday night fixture there with something like nine goals!) but they lost virtually every battle as in League One including that...

They’ve really not covered themselves in glory to be publicly rejected three times!

    Stickied League 1 Transfer Rumours/Confirmed Transfers 2024/25

CamBran rumoured to have offered him a new deal. I can't say that I'm surprised, namely 12 months left on his deal and a release clause which would be a bargain for an Champ clubs around the £1 mill mark. I would love it as a supporter if he stayed, however I would guess we would have tabled...

    The Playoffs

He's well liked at OUFC too. However I do feel judgement is often clouded as he is such a big personality off the pitch people tend to get distracted by that. Moreover, the fact we occasionally blow a struggling team out of the water it often masks failings. He's not a bad League One Manager...

We only have ourselves to blame. Stupid, unnecessary decisions both today and daft results across the season which should have seen a comfortable playoff spot are frankly unforgivable. KR’s obsession with offensively minded players and a complete unwillingness to have no fit defensive...

I assume that's a joke? They're the best this division has seen in decades... Dare I say, ever?

That would be lovely. If you would be so kind to beat Plymouth next Saturday that would be wonderful also.

Away to Rotherham. Huge game for both sides. Rotherham appear to be in decline and desperate for three points to secure promotion automatically. Anything less would be disastrous for them and us given we are clinging onto hope of a final play-off spot. Our faint play-off hopes rely solely on...

    Easter Games

That was the biggest game of two halves you’ll ever see. KR got it badly wrong first half. MK looked different class at 45 minutes; to be honest I was sat there thinking ‘we are so far away from promotion based on this’. Given the second half performance a lot of that first half was perhaps in...
