We lost, fairly convincingly it must be said, to Aldershot, whom I cannot imagine troubling the top half of the table by the end of the season. Our strikers are actually physically painful to watch, so ponderous are they.

Solihull looked decent enough, certainly a yard quicker physically and mentally. Oh for a striker

Yes, I actually don't think he was the worst of the three that year, and I know many wanted him to go when he did, but he really did set fire to the place before scarpering into "retirement"

Is Jeff King any good? I remember him in our reserves a few years ago, nephew of Alty legend John King. I just assumed he had dropped down a few levels and disappeared, as all of our reserve players are apt to do. I was most surprised when I read of him at Halifax.

We had three in the same season: Neil Young (on his comeback tour, part 2) Jim Harvey (played 10, lost 9) Matt Doughty All utterly terrible in their own unique way. I think some were more culpable than others however.

They beat us too last season

First league game between Alty and Wealdstone in over 30 years I think. I must have seen a couple of games between the two, though the only one I remember is a 2-1 defeat at home in Wealdstone's double-winning season, my first season watching.
