    US Presidential election 2016

Saw this on Niall Ferguson's Twitter feed. NBC/WSJ poll. Pretty much hinting at the above. Could be a lot of shy Trump supporters out there. Of the handful of Americans I know abroad the majority are Trump supporters.

How much Alcohol do we consume a week?

I've stopped drinking mid-week (with the exception of work functions and the like) and it's remarkable how good I'm feeling come Friday. Not sure how anyone (other than Andy Fordham) could do 10 pints a night and hold down a regular job...

    US Presidential election 2016

Trump at 11/4 now (2.75/1). Could cash out now with a small profit, but think I'll stick to the bitter end. Fancy him to do this, or at least make it very tight. Think there's still a few more bits of info to come out for each side.

Brendan Rodgers - New Celtic Manager

You're right, he's made some shrewd purchases without rocking the boat too much. Like Deila though, I think he'll eventually hit that ceiling, ironically because of the speed of his success. Too good for the SPL, but unlikely to make inroads into Europe. (Maybe I should hope he does so well...

Brendan Rodgers - New Celtic Manager

Quite incredible that Rodger's is talking about winning the league in style - it's October! To be fair, he's not wrong. Shame that no one could put a proper challenge. Rodger's has really taken them to a different level from Deila.

The Philippines: 300 people killed without Trail

Had a mates 30th in Manila last year (weekend of the Mayweather Pacqiao fight). I know plenty of people who've been to Cebu, Boracay and the like, who love it, but I found Manila quite horrible. Bangkok is about the only reference point I can make, but a whole lot more disfunctional and far-far...

    US Presidential election 2016

9/2 is basically saying that there's an 18% chance of him winning. Between the polls and my own gut feeling I do think Hilary will probably win, but I reckon Trump's chances of winning are higher than 18%, therefore I reckon it's good value and worth a punt.

    US Presidential election 2016

Trump at 9/2. Clinton at 1/7. Surprised how skewed these odds are (to me at least). Definitely getting a piece of that.

Back in Abu Dhabi after stopping off in Istanbul last weekend. Very cheap accommodation and flights after the recent terror attacks. Quite impressed how quickly they got the airport sorted after the attacks.

Escalating crisis. police/black community (snipers kill three cops, ten more injured)

A good article about this topic: http://www.economist.com/blogs/democracyinamerica/2015/05/militarisation-americas-police "The American Civil Liberties Union found that the value of military equipment used by American police departments has risen from $1m in 1990 to nearly $450m in 2013...
