The Raving and General Electronica Thread

That has got to be one of my favourite clubs. Usually no que and very unpretentious. When it gets going at 3-4am the atmosphere is brilliant - probably my first proper 'techno experience' with a full on sound system. It's relentless. I really miss those places living in Asia. It's all about...

    The Holidays Thread

Circumstances usually dictate that when you're younger you have more free time, energy and disposable income to spunk on that sort of stuff, but I think it's a richer experience if you travel or back-pack when you're older. Most of the interesting types I've met in hotels and hostels around the...

Get down to Tasmania BlueBee. Really beautiful part of the world that a lot of people miss. I love Australia, but I'm not the biggest fan of the East Coast of Oz, a bit Magaluffy...

Thanks Disarray. I've already got a ticket for an organ concert at St. Stephens Basilica, but I fancy checking out a club, particularly if it's plays some decent techno.

    Do you hire a cleaner?

You can get a cleaner in HK quite cheap - £35 a month, for a morning a week. Makes my (already easy) life, a lot easier. A lot of people here have live-in-maids which I can't get my head round. Would feel distinctly uncomfortable having a stranger roaming around my tiny apartment 24/7.

I don't mind the hard sell to be honest. As you say, once you disperse with the British pleasantries, you can quickly learn to ignore them or tell them to piss off. It's the constant lying that eventually gets to me in these places. By the end of a trip I've turned into quite a grumpy, cynical...

Blue Lagoon is fantastic - very other wordly and atmospheric. I stopped off in Reykjavik on the way back from America, however I'd love to spend more time there and see more of the island. I met a German couple who got the car ferry from Denmark to Iceland (2 day trip) and drove the coast of the...

    Dick Advocaat

I read that he didn't take any severance pay, which if true, is a nice touch. He was fantastic when he was in charge of us - albeit he pretty much bankrupted the club  - we played some great football, particularly in Europe. Whoever said he should have gone at the end of last season is...

    The Labour Thread

Completely anecdotal interlude here, but having lived in various countries over the past years and visited many more, I would consider Britain to be a fairly liberal and enlightened country. It's not perfect of course, but that we have so many people moving here, or wanting to move here, would...

Have you met my family? They're not very nice! I've never seen it as abandoning them - they're all perfectly capable of travelling. Got plenty of friends in Australia and New Zealand too.

    the Migrant Crisis

Syria had a relatively sizeable and well educated middle-class prior to the war, would be a nice boon for any country (at least in the long-term) to have them flee to your nation bringing with them their skills and connections.
