    the Migrant Crisis

^ that was something we were discussing in work today actually. Quite shocked that the likes of Qatar, who are fantastically wealthy are doing nothing.

    Champions League 2015/16

A good run in the Europa League is the minimum in my opinion. The leagues a given really? Quite frightening that a team 5th in the Swedish League, with a far smaller budget (I'm assuming here) can comfortably beat the best team in Scotland. Scottish football is really on its arse.

Asylum seekers with children to have support payments cut

"Raise your profile" - probably the most soul destroying office jargon phrase. Can I not just be left to do my job, rather than engage in shameless self-promotion?

    The Labour Thread

Ideological purity vs. electability. Labour almost resembles the current state of the Republican party right now. I have found the Corbyn phobia in the media quite strange though, as if anyone that strays from the centre ground of politics is some maverick that must be stopped at all costs...

    The Labour Thread

This is (or was...?) the case in Scotland. Labour reminded everyone at the elections that they weren't the Tories and promptly got re-elected. Now the SNP have successfully taken over that mantle.

    The Labour Thread

Ed shifted Labour slightly more to the left (correct me if I'm wrong) and lost miserably. Would strike me as odd if the lesson Labour learnt from their defeat is that they have to go further to the left...

    The Labour Thread

I can understand why people dislike Blair, but I wouldn't be too quick to dismiss his opinion on the leadership contest. By the time the next election rolls round he'll have been the only Labour leader to have won a majority in almost 50 years, and it wasn't won on a Leftist platform. Corbyn...

    The Labour Thread

The Tories appear to have maneuvered Labour into a lose-lose position. A) Support the benefit cuts and internally the party is divided... Or B) Oppose the benefit cuts and the Tories can paint Labour as being spend thrift/economically untrustworthy etc...

^ I read the BBC article about the IMF this morning (albeit briefly) and my take on it was that the bailout was still on, only that the IMF were not particularly best pleased with the terms. Were the IMF involved in the recent last minute negotiations? Looking back I can only recall hearing...
