Match Thread - Saturday 12th August

Fair to say our season starts today. I do not have high hopes after a couple of decent results for Accrington. Hopefully the team vs Wolves turns up rather than the team vs Luton.

The revenge of the Reds! Crawley v Yeovil

Fully deserved win for your boys, can't quite believe that's the same team that turned up at Huish Park a month ago... I also thought the penalty was a little harsh (albeit from a long way away) but there was an outstanding save in the second half from our centre back, which the ref...

    Yeovil vs Pompey

After Boxing Day's feast of football vs Exeter - the highlight being a rogue half time whistle - I'm hoping for better fare this evening to try and entice some of the holiday crowds back during the rest of season, against a Portsmouth side in excellent form away from home. Hedges' injury is a...

    The Zoko/Berrett/Beck/Madden Derby

Nope, the 12/13 season we lost 1-3 at home (Mark Beck with a brace...) and drew 3-3 at Brunton Park.

    The Zoko/Berrett/Beck/Madden Derby

A frustrating game in all, looked comfortable in possession but so sloppy defensively in the first half. Second half was similar to last week - got in to a lot of good situations but didn't seem to create that many clear chances. It shows we're not too far off the top teams in this league...

Darren Way and the squad have put £300 behind the away bar for travelling fans - I can assure him it's much appreciated

    The Zoko/Berrett/Beck/Madden Derby

If Grainger is out, that is great news for us - one of the best players I've seen at this level over the past couple of years. As to the comment on physicality, I really don't understand why managers say that. Every team in this league is physical and will hit long balls, it goes without saying...

    The Zoko/Berrett/Beck/Madden Derby

The previous 2 games have probably been our best performances of the season (despite losing on Saturday) so hopefully can carry that on this week. Would love to beat Carlisle after failing to do so in all 4 matches last season - Zoko's penalty still haunts me - but can't see that happening...

    Yeovil vs Barnet

No idea how we contrived to lose that, but can take heart from that 2nd half performance - dominating a decent looking Barnet side. Just have to write it off as a clichéd 'one of those days' and try and replicate the 2nd half next week at Carlisle.

    Yeovil vs Barnet

Two of the most in form teams in the league, one of the most prolific strikers in the league against a team who've scored 9 this week. Nailed on 0-0.

    Yeovil v Crawley

Bump for today's game - win and we're in the play-offs. We were good in spells last week at Accrington, but conceded a very avoidable last minute equaliser. Hopefully Ward is fit to return, I've no doubt we we wouldn't have conceded that goal last week had he been playing. We were excellent in...

Hignett will be gone soon, no doubt - Hartlepool are the lower league Sunderland. Start shit, sack manager, stay up - repeat ad infinitum.

    Relegation thread

If it wasn't for Carlisle's wonderful generosity in giving us a certain Patrick Madden we wouldn't have got to the Championship in the first place! More than made up for it with Mark Beck though, worst striker I've ever seen in the football league, utter, utter shyte.

    Stevenage v Yeovil Town

Diabolical first half, improved second. Conceded 2 soft goals - most unlike us in recent times - but a cracking strike (possibly deflected) to salvage a point that keeps us ticking along nicely. Up next in the league 2 home games against the 2 most out of form sides. Play-offs in sight.
