Wrexham to get 99 year lease on their ground

It would be great to have the Kop back in use - it's the biggest terrace left in British football - but essentially it is collapsing. It was built on old spoil from the local pits and that has come away from the concrete shell. Hopefully we can put together funding and grants to build a...

Doesn't always work that way as many clubs, including mine, have found.

He does seems like a good chap. In our local paper tonight he credits Macc with resurrecting his career. He has been outstanding for us so far that's for sure.

I wasn't aware of your billionaire owner so that explains how you can afford your squad/manager on your crowds, in conjunction with parachute payments. Regarding how you compare overall, average home attendances in the league so far are: 1 Tranmere Rovers 5,365 2 Wrexham 5,156 3 Grimsby Town...

It'll be a tough game for us on Saturday. Moke has been a revelation in midfield - he has definitely developed an end product! Vose gets the headlines but Moke is the engine of our team and has been our best player so far this season.

Cheltenham I presume are only able to fund their current squad and manager on their comparatively low crowds because of football league parachute payments. It'll be interesting to see what happens to them if they don't go up at the first time of asking. Do they have a sugar daddy type owner like...

Very Mini Match Thread 24-25th November

Tranmere's plight reminds me very much of our first season down here under Brian Little. We thought it would be a walk in the park...and it wasn't. Hopefully you won't get stuck down here for 8 years and counting like us! Tranmere and Cheltenham really need to go up this season while they are...

It's all ifs and buts. No team has really stood out for me or is likely to run away with it. The team at the top going into the last 10 games is therefore seen as a target for everyone in the top 6 or 8 and easily catchable. We'll see next April/May.

We have a "licence" to play at The Racecourse and to use Colliers Park, our training ground, rather than a lease. That means that we don't have exclusive use. Crusaders rugby league team also use it. I believe our licence costs are covered by the university's shirt sponsorship. There are lots...

Is Football sustainable at this level

If course it is sustainable. It took us quite a few years to turn around the mess we were left in by our last "sugar daddy", as evidenced by the figures at the beginning of this thread. It was described a few times as like trying to turn around an oil tanker as we had debts of £500k and were...

    Matchday thread 21/11/15

I don't think either Cheltenham or FGR will win the league. Barnet were thereabouts all season last year but in most years we've been down here teams at the top over Xmas and in Jan/Feb rarely seem to finish top at the end of the season, and a team from the pack often goes on a good run to bag...

I think a club can be competitive (challenging for play-offs) whilst living within their means, but I think winning the league is certainly a very tall order. I'm hopeful that Wrexham will be there or thereabouts at the end of the season. It does take a lot of work though, especially on building...

There are only two I know of; Wrexham and Chester - both supporter owned clubs. To me the whole FGR thing seems pointless, and if I was a fan I'd be very concerned at the ridiculous debts being piled up. If they do get promoted I can't see how they will ever generate the crowds required for...

At an average of £10 per head that's an extra £20k over budget we are bringing in per home match, with no debts to service.

Wrexham expecting a crowd of 6 to 7,000 for our game v Halifax on Saturday. I wouldn't be surprised if we lost - it's what seems to happen when we get a big attendance. Plus we never beat Halifax.

    Matchday Thread 18/08

According to our forum we've already sold over 5,000 tickets for our game tomorrow v Welling. With pay on the day fans we will hopefully be looking at a 6,000 plus crowd which I think is good going for the Conference. It's amazing what a few wins and a side playing attractive football can do!

    Matchday Thread 18/08

Ah OK that makes sense. We don't have a standing area in use at Wrexham anymore (unfortunately) so I wasn't aware of this rule. There is a seating area behind the goal, only for home fans, that is cheaper than the one the away fans have (it has restricted views because of posts etc.) However...

P.S. £21 for Conference football is extortionate.
