I think Crewe are in a fix as to what they knew when they sacked Bennell, as he left there and went to Stone Dominoes and Stoke City and it is on a tour of USA with Stone that he abused one of their youngsters for which he did time. Presumably, Stone would have asked for a reference from Crewe...
