I have a sense of deja-vu about "Edmondson" and Carlisle. Many years ago, Carlisle had an Edmondson. Played at the back, alongside Dean Walling, when Carlisle were pretty good. For no good reason, I think Carlisle have just become a good promotion bet for next season...

Yes, for the situation required last season. Discounting our player-coach Jim McNulty (who is at the veteran stage, and only played occasionally) none of the centre-backs we fielded last season had any FL experience whatsoever until Paul Downing (competent but in and out through injury) joined...

Our best player last season, and arguably has been since we rescued him from the wreck of the SS Bury. Out of contract, offered a new deal. With respect to Barrow, I'd have thought he could get a L1 gig, or possibly Bradford/Stockport/Sal£ord...

Quite a few teams have signed an experienced player for their U23s as a sort of playing mentor. Ex- Dale's Paul McShane at Manchester United, Olly Lancashire at Southampton and Gary Dicker at Brighton (who may now have retired completely).

Good player. Attacking midfielder who knows where the goal is. Personally rate him higher than Sarcevic. Came through our youth team at the same time as Andy Cannon. Wish him every success if he signs for County, except against us...

Midfielder Stephen Dooley has turned down Dale's offer of another year in favour of a two year deal at Harrogate. Don't blame him. Works hard but probably not in most Dale fans' potential first xi for next season.

Goalie Jay Lynch, released by Dale, has joined Fleetwood. Mostly pretty competent, and made some excellent saves, but not that big and occasionally dodgy on crosses. Don't know if he's signed as first choice, or as experienced cover.

Dale have signed Ethan Ebanks-Landell on a 2 year deal. Been on loan with us before and did pretty well. Should be a good signing.. :)
