It's interesting to me that we've used every possible combination of left foot + right footed centre backs, but haven't yet played Sheehan and Bradley together for a single minute of pre-season.
That strongly suggests to me that Jones will not play the two left footers together unless in a back...
Agreed that Collins looks a bit awkward at times and doesn't seem to have a great all round game. But he does work his bollocks off and got 10 assists in 42 games last season so I think his all round contribution is a bit deceptive.
He'll score goals too. 20 in 68 in League One to date but he's...
A little raw but a physical beast for his age and he's left footed which is a bonus as there doesn't seem to be too many naturally left sided centre backs around. He's very highly rated and had interest from Championship teams, bags of potential.
Delighted with that bit of business, it's been...
Grant is out of contract in a year anyway isn't he? And he'll be 24 by then so who knows, we might be thinking we can attract him on a permanent in a year's time. With the investment Forest are getting at the moment it's difficult to see him breaking in to their team now.
I'm looking forward to...
In the extended interview he said definitely 1, maybe 2 depending on some unspecified things. Potts leaving perhaps? Marriott sale freeing up some cash for a bigger transfer fee? Or waiting on another transfer to grease the wheels in the market? Who knows.
Agreed we look light in midfield...
That sounds much more like it from our perspective, the most we've paid for a player in recent times is £250k so I'd have been very surprised if we'd bought someone for £500k+.
What's his best position? Seems like he was billed as a full back primarily when he joined you from Accrington but our...
Seems like he has played most of his football at full back and played plenty on both sides. Judging from transfermarkt (which isn't always accurate but is as good as is available at our level for such data) he's really only filled in at DM here and there.
Him being a right footer doesn't...
Complete nothing player. His only real contribution of note during his time here was fucking an easy goal line clearance against the keeper's back in stoppage time to lose us the play-off semi final.
Just drifts through games doing nothing and I don't think even he knows what his best position is.
Scunthorpe away on Boxing Day. Cheerssss fixture list guys, Jesus.
Disappointed that Oxford and Bradford away are both on Tuesday nights too as both would have been decent sized followings on a Saturday but alas. At least Sunderland away is on a Saturday and our opening week of the season looks...
I think we'll be a lot less active this summer than in recent times and the lack of rumours probably reflects that.
Last summer we brought in 11 players and had several relatively big money sales (McGeehan, Marriott, Vassell). 9 players in the previous summer, 12 in the year before, 10 (11 if...
West Brom away for us. Cracking draw, haven't played them in over 10 years. Will be a new stadium for me as I didn't bother that season, we were shite at rhe time and it was on tv if memory serves.
More intriguingly, our left back Dan Potts has been linked with a couple of Championship clubs and Sunderland. He only has a year to run on his deal and a usually extremely reliable poster on our forum has just claimed that he is refusing to extend so we are likely to be forced to sell.
Said...
Location wise we'd have an advantage but he's a born and bred Scummer having spent 10 years in their youth system and a few more in the pros so if he retains any affection for them that may weigh against us.
Decent player though, definitely wouldn't say no to signing him.
Can't say I recall seeing him play, but Plymouth fans on Twitter are having a proper meltdown about it which I think is usually a good sign as no-one cares when a player who isn't half-decent leaves.
Be hilarious if he goes and signs for Bolton or someone now.
I don't think the diamond suited him as it meant all the space centrally was occupied. Especially as all teams in League 2 tended to sit very deep against us home or away it meant he had no space to run into, and he's not the type to beat players with the ball at feet and create something...
Supposedly our sell on clause is quite a bit higher than 20% of profit so if he went for £6.5m £1.2m would be an underestimate. As ever it depends who you believe on these things but I've seen a few people I would usually consider reliable make the claim that it's more than 20% now so hopefully...
