Brindley was a decent RB for us in 17/18, once he was fit. I didn’t even realise he was playing as a centre-half against us!

I’m more inclined to blame our midfield myself. What are our central defenders supposed to do if the midfield in front of them puts no pressure on the ball and doesn’t track any runners off the ball?

Reading these last two pages was a worse experience than watching the 2nd half of our match yesterday.

The club loves to hold a wedding or two on matchday. At least the dubstep would have matched your mood throughout the second half. I heard those reports too, I am disgusted by the maladroit way the club has prepared for the first machday under normal conditions. Value your customers!

Away fans have always had that stand behind the goal since its construction 5 years ago. Swapping Brundle’s and Harry Taylor’s positions wouldn’t have resolved all of our issues today, but it would have solved a lot of them. We already have a couple of no.10s in the squad in the shape of Tasdemir and Fonguck.

I think it was a mixture of the two. We set up in a diamond 4-4-2 formation, which gave their wing-backs licence to maraud up the flanks and create overloads. Moreover, Brundle and Payne are the world‘s slowest central midfield pairing and coupled with Harry Taylor not being fully on his game...

Looks about right IMO.

This has become very reminiscent of our opener against Eastleigh last season (albeit against a better team this time).
