2-0 Gills, 2 minutes into the half.
A Carlisle ball to no-one, Wakeling picked it up and had a free run at goal. I do wonder if some of the players are having issues with the kits being quite similar here to be fair, a lot of passes from both sides straight to opposing players.
Or they're all...
Started like a train and scored within 3 minutes, since that it's been Carlisles half as they've gradually got closer to hitting the target, culminating with an effort off the bar from 10 yards which was a bit of a sitter. If thr pattern of the game continues this way then we need to hope...
Yep, another in the pro-Nemane camp here - cracking player, great outlet for Notts in the last couple of years and totally wasted in their daft shape last season. Got away with it in NL as he played as the winger he is, but asking him to defend lots last season was just never going to be to his...
Only saw bits and pieces of the 90, but from what I saw it was fairly even. Good poachers goal from Dobra, a definite penalty not given, and then a great finish from Wright having beaten an absolutely empty central midfield to get within range. Chesterfield probably do enough to scrape a win in...
Oddly, while I thought you had really good midfield options in the National League I think you're a bit light a level up. Naylor is a player, but I don't think Oldaker or Banks are anything other than ok in this league. Akinola a technically proficient player but not convinced on him physically...
Not sure what your point is here - Jonny is still going to be our first choice in that position, Euan will be his backup.
JW needs to be better this season for sure, which I'm sure he will be in a system that suits him rather than being played out of position all the time. Thanks for your...
We've signed Euan Williams, a lad we've had on trial all summer. 21 years old, released by Charlton. Plays predominantly as an attacking midfielder and will most likely be Jonny Williams understudy in the main.
Carlisle normally have a fair few at ours, I believe they have a reasonably large London contingent so we're quite a handy away for them.
I read that Carlisle are live streaming the game back at Brunton Park, so that will knock off a few travellers from the North I'd imagine.
Never easy to know how a relegated side will fare in a new division, so no real expectations for how good or bad Carlisle are going to be.
For us, I imagine we'll be similar to last year but hopefully create a few more chances with the wide players brought in - Nolan has done well in pre-season...
Carlisle (H) - Important to put down a marker at home against a side that I think will grow into the season. Win.
Swansea (A) EFL Cup - About as poor a draw as we could've had. Lose.
Morecambe (A) - Hopefully we'll be able to take advantage of a lack of team cohesion with their 57 new signings...
Suggestion in various places that we're on the verge of announcing the loan signing of Wakeling from Posh, with Ashley Nadesan going out to Sutton on loan at the same time. Both would make sense.
We appear to have Jacob Wakeling training with us at the moment. Might be looking at bringing in a short term loan deal up front as Nevitt and Andrews are currently both injured.
Interesting that no-one seems to be mentioning Oxford City - I can only assume that it's because most aren't that familiar with them having spent most of their time in NLS, but they've been a strong side at this level for several years up to and including their promotion. Last season wasn't...
Noticeable across the board that clubs just aren't playing as many friendlies as they used to - at least not traditional 90 minute games. I remember pre-seasons playing 8/9 friendlies as a matter of course.
Bonner had Hoolahan in a similar position when he got Cambridge promoted from this league - he couldn't play 2 games a week so he was managed carefully, ended up playing 30 odd games and was a fantastic asset when he was available. I believe there was an agreement from the outset that he...
