It’s way off being a top ten squad - that’s the point. Our expectations should be to at least match last season though, so it’s not arrogant to think that’s do-able.
First decent team we’ve faced today and we were a million miles away. Stockport should’ve had five or six but for poor finishing and misplaced crossing.
We should’ve been playing 10-men after Knoyle kicked Duffus’ face off, but that aside we never even threatened. Definitely not a top-half team...
Accrington are absolutely dreadful - but well drilled. Similar to Sutton in that they scabbed a goal and tried to frustrate us for the rest of the game. Coleman’s got them trying every trick in the book. Could quite feasibly have had two red cards today but the ref was clueless too. So sweet to...
I remember Beckham complaining when a free-kick got moved closer because it made it harder for him to get the ball over the wall from a shorter distance - it wasn’t a great advantage in the end.
It’s no different to having an under-21 squad (I’m sure most of you lot do) except these players might sometimes be 22 or 23, and first teamers can have a game with them for fitness.
One of our players was playing for Mossley in whatever division last season - on Saturday he was on the bench...
Was only a throwaway joke. But the way he celebrated the title win and said he was looking forward to our first season back in the EFL, having stopped off in Bolton on the drive up, left a bitter taste.
We’ll likely go close to full-strength against Judas’ Bolton tomorrow. We beat Blackpool last season as part of our great start and it added to the momentum, so I expect Wild will want to do the same again this year.
Great result for us away at Tranmere, looks like we’ve got our system working nicely, the winning goal was a stonker, and I don’t want to get ahead of myself, but we may have signed the best midfielder in this division (Campbell). Well happy, and didn’t even mind getting drenched.
