The two outfield Trialists at Darlington have been tentatively identified as Tyrese Sinclair (again) and young midfielder Connor Malley, who was/may still be at Middlesbrough.
Won 2-1 at Darlo.
Hazel gave Darlo the lead, Devante Rodney equalised a couple of minutes later and, inevitably, sub Ian Henderson marked his second Dale debut with the winner.
As well as the three Trialists and young Kelly, the other six are the just-signed Seriki and Henderson, player-coach Jim McNulty, youth team defender Paddy Watts, plus Sam Graham and James Ball.
Dale at Darlo today. I assume Ethan Ebanks-Landell has picked up a knock as he's not included. Three Trialists on the ten-man bench, not including a goalie as first year pro Brad Kelly in included.
Signed RWB Kemi Seriki on loan from Sheffield United. Had an interesting season last year, being on loan at Beerschot, recalled by the Blades, playing against the Florists then going on loan to Boston...
I believe he originally came through Bury's youth teams, which were well run by and large...
The Trialists have been identified as five young lads:
Matthew Hudson (GK ex Preston)
Opi Edwards (RWB ex Forest Green)
Luke Dreher (MF ex Palace)
Jamie Soule (MF/FW ex WBA)
Tyrese Sinclair (MF/FW ex Mansfield)
and one not quite so young lad:
Leon Clarke (F, ex quite a big percentage of...
Won 1-0 at Chester.
11 different players in each half (2 Trialists plus Watts from the youth team in the first half; 4 Trialists including a goalie in the second).
Devante Rodney with the goal in the 2nd half.
Pros: 6'7" and built like a fairly fast brick outhouse. Good finisher with his feet.
Cons: can't time his jumps so poor in the air, particularly for a big bloke. Also seems injury prone.
We played our first pre-season game today.
Lost 1-0 behind closed doors at Burnley's training ground. Scorer in the 13th minute was Scott Twine, once of this division.
Both teams made numerous changes - Burnley swapped their first team for their U23s at HT, Dale made 10 changes at the same...
Morley was very good on the whole for us, but not "stand out". His best season was probably about 3 years ago, when he could get forward more (since some bloke called MJ Williams was anchoring our midfield...)
I notice Ronan Darcy isn't mentioned there. Three years ago, when Bolton were in a mess and had to play the kids in their relegation season he (and Denis Politic) looked pretty useful.
Up to Robbie Stockdale (of course) rather than me, but he's someone who could hopefully do Dale a decent job...
Just been putting a random bet on some slow Irish horses and noticed that Grimsby Town had come 2nd at Thirsk:bl:
Was Omar Bogle the front legs or the back??
Goalie Brad Wade, who came through our youth system, has joined Hereford. Since he's spent most of his career since turning pro in a series of loans at Guiseley, fans on this board may know more than me..
At least Kevin Bridges* won't beat you 4-1 or get called off at HT due to torrential rain..
(* Had to google who he is. Not a former Carlisle midfielder, which was my original thought.)
