Not sure. I guess it's all speculation as fees are never disclosed these days, but in The Athletic this morning they say that Faal cost us £500k, and that Rathbone cost us £550k and is our record signing.
Fair point! Although I do think Harrogate continually pushing up the fee beyond a reasonable valuation and taking it so close to the wire is why it ultimately fell down.
That does seem strange. The thing I read said that West Brom had bid £500k which would have made more sense.
I can't see us paying a million so he'll probably stay where he is. Parky and the club tend to walk away if they think the fee doesn't make sense or is being artificially inflated...
How is Luke Armstrong getting on at Carlisle - does he look good? We (Wrexham) came within minutes of signing him a year ago for £500k but failed to register him in time, which in the end was I think a good outcome for us as his fee was being inflated beyond his worth simply because it was us. I...
Yes, and that wasn't a one off. Wrexham have played this way ever since Parkinson took over. In almost every game the opposition team has much more possession, but we have tended to win most of the games because we have been able to soak up pressure and restrict chances, and we have been pretty...
So odd how obsessed the Stockport manager, players and fans are with Wrexham. Do they not have any rivals of their own so need to invent one in us? You won the league. Enjoy it and stop obsessing about a team who doesn’t give you a second thought.
Can’t see why anyone would dislike James McClean. Personally think it’s refreshing to see someone who stands by their beliefs and goes against the grain, and his shithouesery is entertaining.
I’m really looking forward to it. There should be a great atmosphere and plenty of edge/no love lost considering that there is nothing on the game.I’m sure both sets of fans don’t want some boring love in.
I think Stockport will get a resounding booing on Saturday, and rightly so. Their fans and their manager seem to have a real dislike for Wrexham; the songs, the banners flown from planes, and everything else. It's been very one sided so far, so time for them to get a little back. I can see it...
There is background to it. One of Shrewsbury’s players did an interview last week with the BBC basically saying Wrexham are a small club, this was their big day out, they were a semi-pro team last season so Shrewsbury would win and some other stuff. I think it went down quite badly at the club...
They did have some good chances - fortunately they couldn’t hit a barn door. But their style of play was really bad. We’ve been in the National League for 15 years and in all that time I’ve not seen a team resort to the long ball quite like that.
I was surprised at how poor Shrewsbury were. Anti-football. It was like watching Cambridge under John Beck. Only one team actually tried to pass the ball and it wasn’t them. Pure hoof-ball conducted by a weird menagerie of donkeys. I honestly think they’d be relegated in league 2.
Bit desperate. That was a pure accidental clash of heads when both were trying to head the ball. I know this because someone on the Barrow forum has posted pictures of the incident to illustrate just that, and pointed the same thing out.
