    The Holidays Thread

Going to western Canada for 2 days next week. Not Vancouver though, I'm doing Northern BC to see some nature and wildlife including Grizzlies, Moose and hopefully Cougars. Currently booking up some tours but the flight is nearly sorted.

    Round of 16: Brazil v Mexico, 2nd July, 3pm(GMT)

3 of the last 4 round of 16's: out to South America. In the last 3 Copa America's, they've only beaten Uruguay, while losing to Peru, Chile, Uruguay (2011), Ecuador and drawing against Bolivia, Chile (2015) and Venezuela.

    Round of 16: Croatia v Denmark, 1st July, 7pm(GMT)

This. Croatia to me haven't been very good and are way overrated by some. They've been good with their pressing but when it comes to attacking, they are inept. Its always 1 player (usually Perisic or Modric) driving forward with the rest arriving to the box really late, often leaving them with...

    Round of 16: Brazil v Mexico, 2nd July, 3pm(GMT)

Mexico have 1 win vs South America in the last 9 competitive encounters. Honestly, why do they insist in the "debate" that they are better than us? Its hardly an argument at this point.
  5. Libertadores FC

    Australia v Peru, 26th June, 3pm(GMT)

I'd like to know where Carver is who said we were going to be the whipping boys of the World Cup.
  6. Libertadores FC

    Argentina v Croatia, 21st June, 7pm(GMT)

Its been embarassing so far, but I'm not overly shocked. Particularly with Colombia and Argentina who were god awful in qualifying. I expected more from Peru, and Uruguay/Brazil have done their job, albeit the latter have also been very underwhelming.
  7. Libertadores FC

    France v Peru, 21st June, 4pm(GMT)

It wasn't that empty, there were a few cars going by.
  8. Libertadores FC

    France v Peru, 21st June, 4pm(GMT)

    Gutted.
  9. Libertadores FC

    Peru v Denmark, 16th June, 5pm(GMT)

Not sure about that, I thought they were terrible most of the second half. However, near the end of the first and start of the second, they exposed our weakness and won the aerial duel which we just gifted.
  10. Libertadores FC

    Peru v Denmark, 16th June, 5pm(GMT)

His original position is as a 9. That's how he was trained at Alianza Lima.
  11. Libertadores FC

    Peru v Denmark, 16th June, 5pm(GMT)

We were good in the first half, and we've not really declined. Rather, Denmark have been intelligent and have tried to expose our aerial weakness and that is helping them hugely in this game. I'm a bit pessimistic to be honest, we need to see Paolo Guerrero.
  12. Libertadores FC

    Peru v Denmark, 16th June, 5pm(GMT)

He was nervous. You could tell from his facial expression, he didn't have it in him to convert that penalty. I really hope that isn't a bad omen.
  13. Libertadores FC

    Argentina v Iceland, 16th June, 2pm(GMT)

I wasn't talking to you about Iceland - just Croatia. I've seen them a few times and they do not play like a team at all. And yes, I am incredibly nervous for ours.
  14. Libertadores FC

    France v Australia, 16th June, 11am(GMT)

No it isn't - if it doesn't change the direction of the ball it doesn't count. Get your football rules right.
  15. Libertadores FC

    Argentina v Iceland, 16th June, 2pm(GMT)

I am basing it on the last few years. Did you not read the whole post??? They really are not very good.
  16. Libertadores FC

    Argentina v Iceland, 16th June, 2pm(GMT)

Wank. We played them back in March and it was a piss easy win. Also finished behind Iceland in qualifying and went out in the last World Cup groups to one of the worst Mexico teams in my life. They have good players but no work ethic. One of the most overrated teams on the planet. Iceland are...
  17. Libertadores FC

    Argentina v Iceland, 16th June, 2pm(GMT)

Nah, all 4 teams in this group are wank.
  18. Libertadores FC

    Argentina v Iceland, 16th June, 2pm(GMT)

I said in the box that when a team has a lot of posession, the game is quite boring to me unless there is goals. This is an exception for me, I've actually enjoyed this. I'm always intrigued at what errors Argentina are going to make at the back. Sampaoli has got it all wrong. From starting...
  19. Libertadores FC

    France v Australia, 16th June, 11am(GMT)

What are you lot on about? It was a clear pen. I hate VAR too, but if you're going to use it make the correct call, which it was made in this case. Risdon won the ball albeit barely and it didn't change direction and then went on to sandwich Griezmann's leg and clip him. It wasn't an easy call...
