We don't have enough about us to force a game at this level. We look much better when level/ahead and able to counter into space. As soon as we go a goal down we really struggle to build any kind of forward momentum.
Three games in a row we've given away soft, soft goals in the first 5 or 10 minutes after half time. We feeding them valium in the dressing room or something?
Sluga not helping himself at all with cock ups like that. Didn't think he was to blame at Cardiff or vs WBA unlike some of our less...
That City lad looks like he is playing right back in all the videos on YouTube. Versatile option to give us 2 there if Bree signs perhaps and allow Cranie to go back to DM, which seemed to be the original idea from the pre season friendlies?
Agreed with that. Home form will be absolutely crucial this season.
Jones has mentioned previously in interviews that we'll need different ways of playing so I wouldn't be at all surprised if we ditch the diamond away from home but then we haven't seen anything else in the pre season friendlies...
Just caught up on the post-match on Sky. Laughable that their pundits thought it was a 4-3-3 tonight. Clearly a diamond, albeit with a few tweaks to compensate for the wing back situation.
The strikers (particularly McManaman) pulled wide to give us that width that Stacey and JJ provided last...
Brilliant game for the neutrals and for us really. Funny one as you'd have taken a draw (to say the least) when we were facing a pen at 3-2 down with 10 mins left. But overall there is a tinge of disappointment not to win when you factor in the keeper howler, the pen that should have been on...
That's because it *is* even narrower. The electronic ones haven't replaced the old ones, they have just been set up in front of the old wooden boarding so we've lost another couple of feet on each side (apart from the boxes side where we don't have them).
They looked like a pretty temporary...
I would have Moncur ahead of Lee too but I don't think GJ will judging by the last few friendlies, whenever he has started with what looks like "full strength" Lee has been given the nod.
I think Moncur will win that shirt sooner or later though, Lee is an extremely patchy form player and...
Cranie played right back for the first hour vs Basingstoke and for most of the game vs Maritimo. I wonder if we're looking at Butterfield because we're struggling to find a right back option so need a midfielder to free Cranie up to play there.
Hope not as agree with TFCH that the diamond will...
Yeah bit odd, don't think he was anywhere near breaking into our first team scene so imagine he would be even further down the pecking order at Brentford. Did seem a half decent prospect but never seemed as highly rated as some of the other recent academy graduates like Bakinson.
Personally glad we weren't held to ransom over LuaLua, he ain't that good. More of a cult hero than an irreplaceable player.
Stacey going was inevitable with his contract situation. I reckon our original plan was probably to shift Stacey and beg another year out of JJ as we had more security...
We've got a pre-season friendly in Portugal.
Club have decided to up our corporate game and are offering a 2-day package trip which includes seeing the players train etc and then taking in the game.
Unfortunately the club have also decided that the people of Luton can afford £1500 for a 2-day...
The reports about Jack Stacey today concern me far more than LuaLua tbh. Always thought he would go this window but still coming to terms with it emotionally like, probably my favourite player in recent seasons.
Bournemuff had 3 bids rejected going up past £3 million allegedly (comes from the...
Personally didn't rate LuaLua that much so not unhappy we haven't broke the bank for him.
What he did do well is carry the ball so he got us up the pitch quickly. We don't really have that option in too many others so hopefully we will bring in a forward who can.
What position did he play when he stepped in for you?
Trying to work out what system the new manager is going to play. Last year we played a narrow diamond with the full backs pushed aggressively high up the pitch at every opportunity, from what I have read that doesn't really sound like...
We've just signed Ryan Tunnicliffe on a free after his Millwall contract expired. Takes me back to my Football Manager days when I used to sign him out of Man Utd's academy. I'm guessing he hasn't since gone on to become a borderline world-class ball-winning midfielder like he did on that game...
We've signed Martin Crainie after he was released by Sheffield United. Plenty of experience at this level but can't say I know anything about him, any reviews?
