Alright, there's a full explanation of what this is about here.

To recap for both those who are participating and for the rest of you, though:
  • first and foremost, anyone is welcome to vote on these attached videos
  • the format is the same as the European Championships (4 groups of 4, QF, SF, F)
  • videos will be posted in pairs, people should vote for their favourite from each pair by liking the post that it appears in
  • each video has been PM'd to me by a poster participating in this game, after they were assigned a random genre of music or a year
  • each pair of videos (and thus the posters who PM'd them to me) are facing off against each other
  • the poster whose video has the most likes after the deadline has elapsed will receive 3 points.
Hopefully that makes sense. Essentially, videos are going to be posted in pairs. Choose your favourite from each pair by clicking the like button. I will clearly label the matchups.

This is the Group C thread. Group C consists of the following posters:
Aberstone
Joejoejoejoe
The Paranoid Pineapple
Veggie Legs

First round of Group C matches to follow this post.

The deadline will be 24 hours after the final match in Round 1 has been posted.

That is the first round of matches all uploaded, so I'll give you 24 hours (or when I first log on tomorrow, which is likely to be around this same time tomorrow) and then close the voting. After that, I'll upload some tables. Excellent responses so far to all involved and thanks to anyone that voted!

The problem I have with Pachelbel's canon is that it's been ripped off so much that I always hear other songs within it. I like it, but that might just be because it's more familiar.

Fair point, but that Mozart one is twenty six fucking minutes long.

Alright, voting is now over for the 1st round of matches. Aber's top of the tightest group, everyone separated by just 2 likes.

2nd round of matches to follow, as and when the nominations arrive in my inbox.

Had a request to post links to lyrics too, so from this round underneath each song there will be a link to those. However, if it's a piece of classical music or an electronic piece or something with minimal lyrics I won't be doing this.
Group C - Round 2, Match 1
Genre: Latino

Ibrahim Ferrer - Ay, Candela VS Ricky Martin - She Bangs
lyrics (can't find these in English, IanH...is Cuban Spanish massively different to regular Spanish? Maybe you could give us an overall idea?!)

Voting will close 24 hours after the last match has been posted.

Hopefully she bangs some of your heads together. The lack of love for Ricky Martin in here is a disgrace.

Ricky Martin proved a somewhat disastrous choice for someone here, despite their utter bafflement as to why? "They're the latino pop king!" they cried in the box almost risking a red card. Veggie Legs moves off the bottom spot and into a qualification place.

Who picked the Broken Social Scene song? Went down well here. Ricky Martin was an awful choice.

One narrow defeat, two solid victories, I'm happy to be into the knockout stages.

PP, I think. I agree about Ricky Martin, was very happy when I saw what I was up against.
