I'm also a little surprised by Kempster-Down, I thought he looked excellent in youth team and friendly games. I think he didn't impress out on loan in non-league though. I wonder if letting him go is a bit of a mistake.

Max Woodcock is probably less surprising - he's clearly talented but he's tiny and I don't think he's particularly quick and I think you have to be really good as a forward to overcome that.

Just seems like we've got a bit of a lull incoming with graduates and that's not exactly encouraging for us as it means we need to get our recruitment in future absolutely spot on to avoid a repeat of 21-22.

Luckily, the best years of Williams, Tabiner, Holicek and hopefully Lunt and Agius are ahead of us for now, but we really need a promotion soon I feel to make sure we have that safety net if it all goes tits up in L1 as the NL genuinely is oblivion for the clubs model.

It's a bit of a strange one as I think there's a lot of talent in the under-18s. Maybe not quite at Holicek/Tabiner level but definitely real ability. I thought some more of the second years would get deals - surprised there's nothing for Senior, Allport, Nolan and probably Parry and Vincent. Ruthless.

Wouldn't suprise me if we are in for Kirk having the link with Artell , his career/performance are seemingly on a downward spiral though so not sure it would be a great signing. Time will tell i guess

Such a shame he left us to be fair, we had him fit and firing and he was a danger - plus a level up from here. Sometimes players just fit clubs, and however he's been used at Bradford just hasn't been good for him at all.

Similar story with Tom Eaves, although his departure was understandable as at least he moved up a level after leaving us, Oliver moving sideways seemed a peculiar choice at the time.

I believe Oliver was attracted to the 'sideways' move to us to be near his family in Sheffield?

Just hasn't worked for him here, always in the shadow of Andy Cook. When Cook went off the boil a couple of times, Oliver just never took his chance.

I suspect he will end up at a decent non league side now?

It wouldn't surprise me, they always seemed to get on well. I think Callum Ainley is his best mate too.

Liam Sercombe, Sean Long and Luke Southwood have all officially turned down their offers. No idea where any of them are going, but all go with our blessing. Sercs is one of our best ever midfielders and Sean Long has to go down as a legend now after 6 great years. My 13 year old has his shirt from our game against Cambridge in 2022 on his wall - he is absolutely devastated.

Luke was never staying, we knew that since he signed last summer, but he's been outstanding for us.

These are huge losses for us, there's no escaping that fact.

Also - George Lloyd looks set to sign for Shrewsbury.

Crawley have released a few players. The ones that may concern the clubs here are:

Harry Ransom, stand up stopper type centre half. Good defender.

Travis Johnson, signed from Crewe. Has all the attributes to be a decent rb or rcb but can only pass the ball backwards. Frustrating player.

Tobi Omole, left centre back. Started the first 5 games last (last) season then done his ACL. Played a couple of friendlies and was on the bench a couple of times this season. Back to before the acl he would be a good choice for anyone here...and us.

The rest were trialists and such the only real possibility is Jaydon Davis who has been on loan at Braintree.

Chris Long signed a new 1 year deal. One of the best strikers at this level, but he just doesn't play enough games. Really hope it's reduced terms or appearance based.

Can’t believe he’s only 29! Seems to have been around for years.

Claiming he’s one of the best at this level is a bit of a stretch, though.

He is, he's a good League One forward when he's fit. He's just not very fit very often.

What can I say, his goals to game ratio says otherwise but each to their own!

Got a goal every 3 games in our worst side for 40 years in the league above.

That said, I'm not happy we've kept him. Waste of a wage because his fitness is so unreliable.

That’s my point.

1 in 3 doesn’t exactly scream “one of the best strikers at this level”, does it.

Great squad player if anything else.

Lewis Cass confirmed will now be leaving us. Wish him well but probably for the best. Decent enough player but just not kicked on as would have hoped mainly due to injuries.

Expecting some good news on getting some of our academy prospects we offered contracts to signed up. One exception is Rhys Walters but am at the point now keep the offer to entitle us to compo but he’s welcome to go elsewhere for me in all honesty.

1 in 3 in the league above does suggest he'd probably be one of the best forwards in this league, even if you ignore the fact he was playing for a historically bad team.

When he first joined us I thought he was going to be brilliant. Carried the ball really effectively out of defence and looked a decent player.

Unfortunately, the step up to league 1 was just way beyond him, he suddenly looked cumbersome and lacking. I think he might do OK at a bottom end league 2/national league and perhaps build his confidence up again but he's just not what we need.

Rhys Walters can do one as far as I'm concerned. 2 or 3 half decent games against league 2 reserves and all of a sudden he's Pirlo holding out for a bumper contract. He's still a boy, so either sign a contract or go and wallow in some under 23s and end up in non league. It's near enough 6 months of negotiations for someone who had played about 5 times for the first team!

Jack Shorrock signs a 3 year pro contract, happy with that, broke through and done well, scored v Barnsley and outstanding on his full league start back pocketing CJ Hamilton against Blackpool days later.

One that hopefully will make us money going forward.

Fleetwood sign Elliot Bonds from Cheltenham on a 3 year deal ( hope we are still going strong then ) Any Cheltenham fans out, is he a good addition to our squad, what was he like as as player when he was with you ?

Technically, Bonds is a quality player. Good passing range, strong in the tackle, also scores a couple of screamers a season. He should be a decent League 1 player.

However, he doesn't have a football brain at all. He's ponderous, he has no instinct whatsoever.

He'll have days when he's unplayable - those days will be few and far between.

He's also quite injury prone having suffered a bad knee injury a few years back.

Thanks for the reply mate, we've signed Matt Virtue from Blackpool and now Bonds, both midfielders and both with a history of injuries ! Still we've got new medical staff in the club so sure they can sort out any problems eh
