Back to back wins for Pools takes us into this with a bit of confidence for a change, wouldn't change much in the way of personnel, keep the two big lads up front and see what nuisance they can cause the Mansfield defence.

With Harrogate also to come at home New Years Day or whenever it is I'd be happy with a point here.

Tranmere the first of two home games with Rochdale to follow. I'd be disappointed with less than four points across those two to be honest.

Last time we played Crewe, a game I wasn't at, was remarkably dull by all accounts.

Crewe managed zero shots on goal in their last match while we don't exactly go for it away from home. Fingers crossed though Crewe's ineffectual attack won't be able to break us down, we'll manage the game well and nick a goal for all three point

Not confident against anyone at the minute, not really played well for ages except Wednesday and we still lost that.

I'm actually looking forward to the game and it's one I'm not ruling us out of. Good footballing side Mansfield but over the last two seasons I've seen them, they certainly can be got at. I dont fancy our defence and midfield against L2s better sides but If we can keep it tight then I think we've got the strength and ability to stretch them at the back.

Will we have a proper shot?

I'm going with one.

Fucking Harrogate at home. If I could chose one fixture not to have in our current form it would be this one.

I’m more confident of a win against Mansfield, who don’t seem to be playing particular well, while Harrogate are in fine form.
I‘d be well happy with 4 points though.

Their keeper looked awful 'n all. If you can't grab three points off Crewe you truly deserve Beleaguered status

Stockport County visit Walsall in tomorrow's big game, taking place at That Ground Next To The Big Adverts You Go Past On The Motorway

Like everybody else in this division, Walsall saved their worst performance of the season for their visit to Edgeley Park a couple of months ago; so bad I remember their fans celebrating finally having a shot on goal after the hour mark. Since then they've been on a great run and are just above us in the form table. It's also an interesting little augur for the FA Cup 3rd round tie next week.

Both teams have improved since then should be a good test for us and you.We dont need much in January long term injured players are slowly coming back we will need another striker if DJ goes and Bennett will go back to Cambridge so also a wing back other than that cant see much else happening.

Got 1372 fans going to Sixfields - poor fuckers. This has to be the most boring team to watch (us not them). Lindsey is really getting on my tits now. Spouting box entries as if that’s some kind of stat to be proud of.

Hes got to go soon, but he’ll get the full season unfortunately. Charlie Austin won’t make a jot of difference to how he sets up the team. Showcasing our young players is now more important than winning games.

Fuck right off.

You scored on Monday, as well as having the greatest corner routine of 2022, don’t be greedy.
The ending of that routine sums us up at the moment. The reason Ellery Balcombe was brought in (in goal) was that it was said that Glenn Morris's kicking was not good enough. He kicked the ball straight into touch more times than we had shots.

Any Crawley fan who even entertains the idea of us winning at Stevenage needs their head examined...by a proctologist!

I'd like to be wrong though.

Hadn’t realised there were a load of games on Thursday night I’ve got my name down for overtime that night so gonna have to miss this one now.
Might be a blessing though our record against Salford is pretty awful.

I’m not one for being over confident but Crewe’s 18 goals all season gives me a little cause for optimism. I honestly don’t think we’ll get beat.

I’m going with another 0-0 draw.

I’ve no idea which Donny side will turn up but I bet it’s pass between the back 3, nobody upfront moves so they hoof it up to Miller to chase it with no other Donny player within 30 yards of, rinse and repeat the rest of the game

Pretty sure it's the first time I've ever been to a league game at BP on a Thursday night. I think one of those feckin shite home performances in the Conference Play-offs was a Thursday night though - Braintree / Newport / Gateshead?

With us having a days less rest than Newport, we will likely rotate some players.

Darrent Pratley will 100% be rested with Craig Clay coming in, Aaron Drinan will likely start in place of Charlie Kelman, Ruel Sotiriou will likely replace Paul Smyth who needs to be wrapped in cotton wool a bit and I think George Moncur may also be benched with one eye on Northampton on Monday - he's been out with illness and not played alot in the last month.

Barrow hasn’t been our happiest hunting ground in recent years, with just the one win. 3 ex-Rovers in their squad, Foley who’s decent, Ray uninspiring and Kay who had a brief loan spell at Tranmere. If we could win here after a solid victory over Donny, thoughts might be drawn to being in the promotion mix, but expecting a draw or narrow defeat.

Whats going wrong at Swindon? Has it been that bad? I have seen a lot of your fans wanting the manager gone but you are still 5th. Despite our lofty position we are far better away from home whereby we can counter press effectively. At home we just do not create as much in general. Going for a 1-1 draw with a Hoskins pen for us.

As we have just played them they dont have the same attacking threat as last season they took us apart twice but we are much harder to beat now they looked ok though seen much worse this season with a couple of signings they could easily challenge again.

A long trip to Wales shortly after getting the shit kicked out of us by Stevenage. Not sure if I fancy us much. We do have a good record at the Dave, but Newport are one of only 3 sides who have the chance to do the double over us this season. Someone invariably will. As with virtually every game coming up, I’d take a point and run.

Most are just pissed off with the complete lack of entertainment on view - despite being 5th. The play is slow paced, chances created are minimal and goals scored becoming scarcer by the week. The manager spouts stats based nonsense and the DoF actually prioritises showcasing our players for future sale as more important than actually winning a game.

signing Charlie Austin has generated a bit of excitement amongst the fans but he’ll struggle to make an impact if the tactics remain the same. Expecting a few new faces in the window but a complete change of tack is needed if we are to remain in the POs.

Swindon at home. Will be a tricky game with the amount of box entries they get.

It never ceases to amaze me how you are so opiniated on a team that you dont watch. Youve even indicated on another forum that you dont even watch the games on I-Follow now. Have you thought of switching your "allegiance" to somebody more local in the Greek league? Perhaps you'll get a greater level of satisfaction?

Kay is still suspended - the 5th of his 6 game ban.
Big game for us as if we could get a win it would set us up nicely for Rochdale on Monday (an unlikely) 6 points from the 2 games would keep us in play off places and get us much closer to survival.

The thing that has gone "wrong" is the expectations of the fan base. We expected to be in the top 3 and by virtue of the fact that we have played more games than anyone else are in 5th place. Once others have caught up we could be in 9th or 10th which is not good enough. We have had a lot of injuries and illness in the camp which is the same for everyone else. Thats football! We're not playing well but are hopeful of a good transfer window to see us into the playoffs. Although its not been officially confirmed get Charlie Austin back "could" be a fantastic start. Having said all of that it wouldn't surprise me if we won tonight as its so Swindon
