Are Newcastle United set to struggle this season?

It's interesting that lots of people were predicting a good season for Newcastle after their summer signings. I can't see it myself especially after the slow start - thoughts?

I'm still unsure.

Our performances have improved massively since the end of last season although that wasn't difficult. I think McClaren is a good coach who can get the best out of players, and we have bought well.

We wont be in the bottom 5 or 6 anyways.

They'll be fine. The fixture computer hasn't been too kind to them so far and they've got a few winnable home games coming up.

They just need a bit of time. They do have some quality players, and the 'wolly with the brolly' is a more than capable manager. At the very least he knows that Mike Williamson is absolutely crap! I'd expect them to finish comfortably in mid-table and then perhaps kick on a bit next season.
