A question of Forest Green supporters on the list.

Can away supporters buy tickets on the day and are any seating tickets available.

What chance is there of away elderly fans with colours buying seat tickets in the East stand on the day of the game.

Think they only give seats to disabled away supporters and they have to ring in advance but I couldn't swear to that. Thought the stadium manager had commented on our forum when the issue first came up early in the season but if he did can't find it on a quick search just.

I thought this was a temporary arrangement that they were supposed to have sorted by now?

The EFL should be ensuring before football clubs are allowed into the league there's the option of seats for away fans. Or that if change are made during the season the option is still available.

Such a scenario is completely shambolic and frankly embarrassing

I thought the away end was seated? It has been everytime I’ve been bar the season we had some on the side in the FA Cup.

A couple of our fans just asked the stewards to let them through from the terrace to the seats, and they did, don't think any cash changed hands....

Nope - you get the uncovered terrace down the side plus about 20 seats in the corner of the main stand opposite for your fans with disabilities. Home ends behind the goals will be half empty.

It's the worst fucking away end in the football league.

Basically, if you have a good away support then your fucked. There's two turnstyles so expect to queue, it's like six roads of open terracing so hope it dont rain. Also the stewards opened the gates to let people in. My ticket wasnt checked at all and I know of at least one lad who had no ticket and got in. Maybe this is why the terrace was that packed and some people coulden't see.

Enjoy!

Sometimes yes and sometimes no.
Depends on expected number of away supporters.
Best check with your club or FGRs own website before a match in Nailsworth.

The situation at moment at TNL is an embarrassing shambles. The club should have retained same system that has stood it in good stead for years. I think they took poor advice about expected number of support [home and away] and opened up West Stand for away fans.
Plenty of home fans were miffed at losing that spot - on a good day spectators have their backs to sun and are as close to pitch as possible.
I have total sympathy for away fans not able to sit during game. I'm an OAP and usually like to sit.
Can only promise it will get better simply because the FA will insist on it. Supporters of long established FL clubs must remember that FGR have never been in league before and must build slowly slowly. I can remember in years gone by when facilities at some FL clubs were worse than now at TNL.

We took about 650 and the view was abysmal, reminded me of craning my neck at Hereford where you can't see half of the pitch from the paddock.
It is what it is though but elderly fans ought to be allowed in the home areas if there are spare seats.

The away side at the New Lawn is fine on a warm sunny side but the majority of the football season is not like that.
Anyway, I just want to say
SHAME ON YOU FGR!

Season nine months long with plenty of good warm sunny weather.

There will be seating for away fans next season. So hopefully not too much bad weather left between now and then.

And anyway, once we move into our new £100m stadium by the m5, (21-22) everyone will have a seat and a good view.

Imagine if Boreham Wood or Sutton or Bromley or Dover come up next season. It will make The New Lawn look like Wembley

Tbf I went to Forest Green when we played you in the FA Cup and it was very friendly so I wish you well. But surely the likes of you and Fleetwood will disintegrate when the money goes?? A good example of that is Rushden

Your point has been mentioned more than many times by our opponents.
None of us are mind readers but our chairman has no interest in relinquishing his interest in club which he effectively uses as vehicle for both his prosperous Ecotricity business and his on-going environmental campaigns.
As long as FGR have continued success [and that means remaining in FL] it could well be that a like minded Chinese Billionaire would take over both businesses whenever the situation arises.
But that won't be for a decade or longer and some of us will have met our maker by that time.

Yeah I doubt that he’s ever been to any of those grounds. Besides both Borehamwood and Bromley are extending their grounds.

Apparently the very nice ticket office manager at The New Lawn has confirmed that away supporters need to buy standing tickets but on arrival if they see a steward and present themselves as an elderly 'can't stand all match' visitor then they show them to seats in the East stand.
For some reason they don't make this publically known.

Don’t see the point in starting a new thread so I’ll put it in here but what’s the closest pub to the ground?

There are a couple of pubs in Nailsworth, at the bottom of the hill below the ground, the best is probably the Britannia...which has decent food too, for those who can't survive a football game without eating some sort of meat enhanced meal beforehand. Be warned, don't attempt to walk up the hill if you don't have a decent heart and a pair of well functioning lungs...you may not survive long enough to see the game kick-off.

Village Inn's good, next door to a chippie and they got Sky as well,

Egypt Mill's nice if you're after something a bit more posh.

Village Inn encouraged us to bring our (excellent) fish and chips in. We had an (also excellent) couple of ales before giving a pair of 2CW Cheltenham fans (who'd come over on their bus passes) a lift up the hill. Bumped into the same duo later in the season at Cheltenham's best real ale venue.
