Tomorrow see's Birmingham City welcome Sheffield Wednesday to St. Andrews. The Owls will not have fond memories of their last visit to the second city as they were thrashed 4-1 with home débutante Jesse Lingard incredibly scoring all the home sides goals. The Yorkshire club gained their revenge in the corresponding fixture when this time Blues found themselves on the wrong end of a 4-1 scoreline. Wednesday have made the better start this season with 9 points after 6 games their most recent outing a 0-0 draw at Bolton. Birmingham have gained 6 points so far and were unfortunate not to take a maximum from their Saturday lunch time 1-1 with Leeds.
Blues have a lot of injuries to forward players at the moment with Lee Novak and Denny Johnstone set to miss out tomorrow. Manager Lee Clark has taken the step of re-calling Koby Arthur from a productive loan spell with Cheltenham to help deal with the striker shortage. The visitors will have skipper Glenn Loovens available after suspension but mid-fielders Kieran Lee and Sam Hutchison are doubtful. It's never easy to predict a Lee Clark team selection as the Geordie rarely picks the same eleven from one week to the next with that in mind I think the teams will line up like this
Birmingham 4-4-2: Randolph - Spector, Hall, Edgar, Grounds - Cotterill, Caddis, Davis, Shea - Thomas, Donaldson
Sheff Wed 4-4-2: Westwood - Zayatte, Lees, Loovens, Mattock - Maguire, Palmer, Semedo, Maghoma - Nuhiu, May
I expect that both sides will fancy their chances of taking maximum points from this fixture. City are a different proposition at home from the team that surrendered so readily last campaign and are unbeaten at St Andrews in the league this season they have dropped 4 points from winning positions and need to learn to kill teams off when in the ascendancy. Wednesday have won twice on the road already and will provide Brum with a stern test. I'm slightly letting my heart rule my head here as i'm going for a nervy 1-0 win for Birmingham. they've not got the points that performances on home soil have merited and are due a bit of luck.
