Sea-Sea-Seasiders!
Well thanks to an extraordinary set of results last weekend, we somehow find ourselves top of the league again, all be it by the slightest of margins with the top end of the Championship tighter than ever. Last Friday night saw Bournemouth back in our pomp as we demolished Fulham at their place, the sort of performance we hadn't put in for a while. Very encouraging yes, but it's a 10 match straight shootout now between 5,6, or 7 clubs and the pressure is on!
We almost have a 100% clean and fit squad to choose from...except Harry Arter is suspended for this game due to some kind of tunnel incident that the FA haven't deemed interesting enough to make public, apparently during/after our match at Brentford a few weeks back. A bit odd. So that's a bit of a blow because he's our best central midfielder who sets the tempo. But Howe has options to replace him with.
Blackpool's issues need little introduction, although it's interesting that Clarke has gone public saying that they're down now and that it's all about pride. Perhaps it'll take the pressure off a tad. Clarke has suffered several trouncings at the hands of Howe and I'm sure he'll be desperate to keep it tight here. I expect Blackpool to make it as frustrating and difficult as possible sitting deep. We aren't always very good against sides who sit and frustrate, and for me it'll be important to get an early goal. If we get to half time without scoring, hear other scorelines coming in, I think we'll start to over-think things and then anything could happen.
Very sorry that Miles Addison can't play for them! I gather he's been playing in a defensive midfield role for Blackpool recently?!
All sold out as you'd expect, with the club able to cram a few hundred extra home seats than normal in one section of the away end not taken up. Not sure how the logistics of the facilities will work, they can't be sharing? Will be interesting to see..
