(Sorry if a thread has already been posted on this, but am new and haven't seen one. Please can someone direct me to it if a thread already exists? Thanks.)

Any of you guys n gals watched the first two episodes of this? What do you make of it if you have?

Steve Palmer, the Racing Post's Golf Tipster and 'Professional Punter' didn't exactly do himself justice last night did he? Seems his other half is also a 'gambler' putting up with his antics...

Last nights episode was better than the first one. I agree that Palmer made himself look a right berk.

Yeah watched both episodes. I felt a bit for the lad in the first episode, who was clearly struggling to get by and was addicted that much to it that he'd go to 11 bookies a day to try and win the odd fiver. He got a job by the end of it though, so hopefully he is out of the cycle.

I enjoyed last nights episode too, it really shows the highs and lows of the wins/losses well. The guy and his hot wife at the track really had a blast and I could have felt they might've won more money rather than putting just a quid on each race as he clearly knew what he was doing.

That guy Steve however was a numpty; he is obviously a pro tipster on the golf, and he should stick to that, or put a bankroll aside and only bet on that and he'd be laughing, instead of spunking it up the wall on other sports he wasn't as clued up on.

The manager of the shop in Corals in the first episode was a right tosser. As myself a manager of a bookies, that's not how to run a shop at all. That confrontation he had with the guy who he barred was embarrassing to watch, and the way he handled the situation could be considered threatening and unprofessional. His supposed 'banter' with the customers was also really cringey, and seemed to care more about wiping some TV screen than running a business. Also the company I work for were not allowed to work with family members for 'security reasons' yet this guy is working with his daughter? Many things seemed wrong with the first episode, haven't watched the 2nd yet.

Yeah must admit when i watched the first episode i thought the manager of Corals handled the situation with the banned customer poorly although the customer was an utter prat.I can see working in a bookies being a stressfull job at times.I have lost count of the times staff in my local betting shop have told someone to stop kicking the machines or getting angry/agressive.Certainly wouldn't want to work in a bookies on my own late at night.

I once witnessed a guy punch a machine 5/6 times then went to the desk and wanted to complain the machine had cut him. Got to admit, you must have to have some right patience to work in these places. Thankfully all the staff in my local Coral are sound people, The banter is good and it's generally a friendly shop.

The manager in that shop in episode 1 spent ages 'convincing' his daughter to go and work in the other Coral shop, even though she didn't feel safe there. Why didn't 'dad' go there if she was feeling that way, but also, why do Coral allow this and what have they done about this since? Probably nothing because all these firms care about now is those stupid machines (FOBTs) that generate so much money.
My local shop, which is a Hills, is a disgrace! The staff are like ignorant robots and the toilets are an absolute filthy and vile stinking mess.

My local Ladbrokes in South Ascot is ok as is the one i use in Reading.Staff are friendly and the punters are fairly well behaved. However the William Hill down the road is an utter dive and not well maintained.Machines are always broken. (Not that i use them when they are working)

I don't get why people would want to go to a bookies these days anyway, as you can access anything you like in terms of sports betting or casino games via mobiles/tablets or websites.

My brother used to work at the Ladbrokes in the Madjeski, although I think it was the away end whilst he was at Uni. He's a teacher now but he's occasionally works at Ladbrokes part time for some extra cash.

Also the FOBT machines are horrible. They generate so much money for the companies, but they are nightmare to maintain. I've had people spit at them, swear at them, even throw steal chairs at them. I'd recommend anyone never to waste their money on those things. They can ruin lives to people who are venerable to using them.

Friend of mine got addicted to them. His name was Bede.

For the little pens and the banter.

I've enjoyed it so far.

Had the displeasure of working with Tony Kendall and can confirm the way he comes across in this is entirely accurate.

A mate of mine spent silly amounts of money on those FOBT machines. He was losing well over a hundred pounds a week on them spending hours playing roulette and Deal or no Deal.I cant see the bookies removing some of them because as you say they are such money makers for bookies.

Yeah it is although i reckon the SkyPoker guy would do a better job of managing those Coral branches in Huddersfield.

The trouble is, is that not everyone can always get a bet online. Corals one of the worst along with Fred. Tried to do a bet a while ago with them online and was offered... 4p. That is not a mis-print - they really did offer me 4p.

The cash out options are pointless from my experience of using Bet365. I only ever really do football acc's, and I can have 5 out of 6 teams winning with 20 mins to go and they'll offer me £10 back for my original fiver, when the potential returns are close to £300.

Heard PaddyPower is better for online, will probably switch to them.

Yeah been hearing that they give dreadful odds or cut winnings on the bigger players which is silly tbh as they could miss out on thousands when bets go wrong. I didn't know the cash out options were just as bad however. Probably would be better going to an overseas bookie.
