Not massively surprised if true, didn't think he'd work there even with the funding problems they've had.

Confirmed on SSN HQ.

Be very interesting indeed to see who they bring in.

Wouldnt be surprised if they went left field with someone like Neil Aspin formerly of FC Halifax. A big fan of Scotty Boden too.

Think he has been sacked from most of his jobs - didn't last long at Brentford either if I remember rightly.

Don't think they really recovered from losing Justin Edinburgh to us

I take it this decision would have been made by the Supporters Trust, or at least the board they have put in place?

My exact thoughts. Did the best he could given the circumstances.
It may look like that from the outside, but he honestly didn't have the slightest idea in terms of organising a squad into a coherent unit. Had no knowledge of League Two and a dreadful previous record. It was destined to end in tears. And it did. Tuesday night against Crawley was pitiful and painful, obvious to all there that he had 'lost' the club, not just the team. Full credit to the new supporters board in making the decision early and giving the club the chance to turn things around.

Hardly a surprise, let's be honest he's a crap manager on par with that clown we had Tony Adams

Bit harsh, Butcher had some success north of the border.
Will be interested to see who comes in to try and turn things around.

Couldn't see that ever working what with the cut budget as well.

Not good for my bet on them to go down!

Cox being linked. Not sure if he'd do anything there. Will there be any £££ to spend in January?

I'm not so sure Sheridan is any better than Butcher

What was their supposed budget? like £500k?

Dagenham and Accrington survive each year on about 64p so it is possible to do it, just about cutting your cloth accordingly and knowing where to get good players from non-league or or good deals

Curzon Ashton....and Carlisle
to be fair Accy and daggers prepare for that scenario all the time so can adapt to it, that is why I always say its impossible for these big spending small clubs to suddenly just think they can ditch the mass spending and suddenly switch to a reasonable budget.......it never works.

think this was a tough tough job, but I never rated Butcher, the SPL is a very hard league to judge a manager, clubs can go from solid one season to horrendous the next the gap between most outside Celtic is so minimal it doesn't take too much to finish well if you get just that correct set-up or 2-3 players to the mix.

but Newport really do just need a scrapper type manager right now when they've adapted from a good to terrible budget, someone where it won't be too pretty but can be effective.

not an easy job for whoever gets it.

Isn't Sheridan very much the opposite of a scrapper type manager?
