Currently a mid-table clash but a win for us would see us put more pressure on the teams in and around the top seven.

With Northampton away next week this really must be 3 points. Saying that, we do seem to do well at the Cobblers so I hope they don't lose on Saturday so it set's us up to do it a week later.

Same team as Tuesday versus Wycombe and a scrappy 2-1 win.

Weather forecast looks horrible from tonight all the way through to kick off and beyond. However, it's a beautiful day today and the pitch should still be excellent. Despite the likely weather and the fact that it should be a nice mid-table wind-down, play-offs are still being dangled and the South Stand should be full of future U's supporters - so another 5,000 plus crowd is likely.

We usually screw up on these occasions and we're quite capable of doing it again. I don't think we've beaten Exeter for 10 years but the Conference Final (2008) is the one that sticks in the memory - my first ever visit to Wembley and my second worst Wembley memory.

The team selects itself these days - one positive. I'd go for a 2-2 and calming of the play-off fevers. 5,305 (412 Grecians). Jordan Stockley is bound to score and former scum Olejnic will probably gift us one before having a worldie of a game..

Cambridge

Substitutes

Unfortunately, key members of the squad have been poncing around on the NRE this week, rather than practicing their corners.

Looking forward to this.

Not the game of course but a weekend on the sauce with the lads. Gonna drink all your ale and cause a minor flash flood of vomit leaving the city council massively in debt due to the cost of military intervention.

We'll stuff them 3-0. Play offs well and truly "on". :-D

Given up trying to second guess which Exeter City will turn up. If we perform well I fancy a win but if we play a pedestrian kind of performance then it could be a mawling.

I'll sit on the fence. 1-1.

Call me pessimistic, but how many times have we thought that over the last couple of months only to fall back again?

I think we're due one more win to really get us in the playoff picture before we're all let down again. So 2-1 Cambridge

Not sure which way it's going to go today, I like Exeter and the way they play but they've pretty shocking recently(by their standards) and with us being at home I should fancy us but I just don't, the motivation for me with this team is pretty much 0.

1-1

Couldn't make it today but that sure was painful listening once again (which, btw, as good as Johnno is, it's no substitute for being at the game.) When you can't beat the sides below you then you don't deserve to be in the play offs. We had a great chance today with 6 of the sides around us all failing to win, and what makes it worse is when one looks at some of the upcoming fixtures these sides have got - Accrington play Pompey and then Plymouth, BRovers vs Dons and Mansfield, while Orient have Oxford coming up.

No need to state what a huge 3 points today would've been when one looks at those upcoming direct games.

My fellow U's, did Exeter deserve all 3 points today or did we deserve a point?

Imagine thinking about the playoffs then losing to Exeter fucking City.

;)

It's all too predictable. I can't even remember the last time we beat you. Tbf, I think you have a decent side and play some nice footy (I had you down for a top 10 finish in the pre season predictions) but I thought surely we can beat them this year, with so much hanging on the game for us.

I hate this bogey team business with a passion!:told:

Yeah Exeter edged it and again we weren't very good. At what point do we firmly write off the play offs? Surely we're out of it now?

Exeter deserved 3 points.

They were finding space all over the field and outplayed our main strength, midfield, from start to finish yet didn't create that much - only more than us. It was far from one sided but Spencer had the sort of whinging off day he had at Stevenage and our only highlights were some stonking tackles by Leo and the fact that we've finally signed a proper winger (Ishmael) - who runs a bit like Wobbie Wilmott but also provides the type of crosses that Barry Corr dreams of.........Oh, and it looks like the Mid-table title will go down to the wire.

I think that's 48 matches and counting against Exeter (edit: actually it's 56, league and cup, all since 1970) and our last win was back in the mists of time. I'm definitely aiming to head for St James Park next season to see that run ended.

We looked pretty clueless in the final 20 yards bit when you have that much possession at some point you will bore the opposition into conceding a goal.

I wish points were allocated based on sideways pass completions. We would be runaway champions.

I feel wrecked. I remember having a few whiskies and gins at about 2am but have no recollection of getting back to the hotel.

Looks like I didn't miss anything then. But still, I'd much rather be present at any game than trying to paint a picture in my mind of what's going on, which is what listening to a radio commentary boils down to.

c'mon Laker...you sound like some Lutoners...plenty of games to go yet
Our problem is that we seem to follow every win with a defeat. If we could string 2 or 3 wins together then we'd be in the play offs.

Our last 11 games see us play the top 4 and we need to be beating at least a couple of them (possible) and winning a lot of our other games too.

74 points was my target for play offs and that seems a reasonable guess even now. We'd need 23 points from 11 games to get there. That isn't going to happen with our inconsistency.

And Luton would need 23 points from the last 11 games too which I don't see happening either I'm afraid.

It's all in the phsyche Oakie. I can believe that Cobblers will be in the play offs more easily than us/U's.

I'm not happy to be out of the mix but I have got my head round it and it's quite liberating to have a pressure free end to the season for a change. Luton should try it. ;-)
