Can we keep our unbeaten run going?

I think this is a game we should be looking at 3 points for, Accrington have started slowly whilst we've been very solid.

Curle is hoping for a 6000+ attendance, and we really should be getting that many given our start to the season and lack of home games recently, but we'll probably fall short.

I'll go for 3-1. Wyke x2, Jones.

We've got to be winning this really, hope the players haven't forgotten about the Coleman saga last season. No signings today but I'm still very pleased with how the squad looks, just a bit thin in some areas so we'll have to hope that T. Miller and the strikers don't get injured. Our team mostly picks itself at the moment, none of the strikers have made the spot their own yet but the rest have all been excellent in their positions. I'll go for this:

Gillespie
Miller Raynes Gillesphey Grainger
Jones Joyce
Lambe Devitt Adams
Wyke

I think we'll win, but then again we're going to have to lose at some point. Just please don't let it be against Coleman.
2-1, Lambe and Adams

I hope we don't switch to 4-4-2. If we do I think accrington will pick something up from this, at least a point if not all 3.

When we play 4-4-2 our play becomes too predictable and we start running out of ideas.

When we play 1 striker as we did at barnet with the 3 behind, there's much more of a variation and we seem to create more. Plus we're less likely to get raped on the counter attack as Cheltenham did. If we stick wit these tactics we'll win this I think.

Team should be the same as started at Barnet

6k plus is something we can only dream about ( especially as our ground only holds just over 5k !! ) Keith Curle is doing a tremendous job and really pleased for your club, particularly after the distress caused by the weather over the last year. Accy were so unlucky not to get automatic promotion last year and perhaps the hangover is lingering, either way 2-0 for the Cumbrians

Unchanged from the barnet win. That's a good decision that gives us a decent chance of 3 points

I'd say this is our best team available, maybe Brisley, Wyke and Kennedy could improve it. Devitt, Lambe and Adams should create bundled of chances for Jabo, hopefully we can be that bit more clinical.

Our bench looks very solid this season, allows Curle to change tactics but maintain quality.

This is like the Cheltenham match all over again. We're dominant but can't get the ball in the net.

I fully expect us to get absolutely raped on the counter attack again.

First half was good, but Why oh why did we change the formation at half time?

That second half was shite. Scrappy, dog shit, clueless football. A good individual goal saved our arses.

Disappointed. Like HG says 1st half was so dominant and we could've had a couple goals, 2nd half we changed formation and played as poor as I've seen this season. Having said that, Lambe had 2 golden chances to win it and he hit them straight at the 'keeper.

Accrington were poor first half but grew into the game, they'll be delighted with a point.

The positive for me is that we've not lost the game, and we've got another home match next week.

It could be worse...we could support Hartlepool.

I thought Accrington were among the more competent sides we've played this season. Other draws we felt we were genuinely unlucky not to get all three points (Portsmouth with ten men aside) but not on this occasion, they were combative and didn't tire as the game wore on as I'd hoped, their goalie played a very good match too and dominated his area well (though goalies who do that are always liable to fuck up at some point)

Still, very disappointed at yet another game in which we've been the better team without putting our chances away, or even creating any particular good chances for our strikers. As well as we've been playing, there are certainly problems we need to address because we just aren't scoring goals. Jabo looked somewhat unhappy today, I don't know if he's unhappy at his own performances, or if we just aren't creating good enough chances for him, there's an awful lot of passing around the box and very little incisiveness.

That said I remain positive for the season, as we're still playing good enough football I think that we'll start battering teams when we can sort out the goalscoring. Does anyone still have Derek Asamoah's phone number?

Curle can't blame anyone but himself for that, he cost us 3pts with that sub at H/T.

If you're gunna go 4-4-2, then you can't play Ibehre and Wyke - both are far too similar to be able to work together.

I also think if you're going 4-4-2 you can't play Joyce and Jones together, it's ok when Devitt is just in front of them, but when they are in a 2 it doesn't work, so one of them (Joyce obviously) has to be replaced by someone who gets forward a bit more, like Kennedy or McKee.

6 games in I think our performances have been really good on the whole. I've seen every game other than Cambridge and by all accounts we played ok there.

I predicted 15th for us but I think we'll end up a bit higher than that. Top 10 again is definitely achievable. I have my doubts about whether we've got enough cutting edge in the final 3rd to worry the top 7, but we'll see. Games like today, Cheltenham and Cambridge need to be won if we're going to mount a push but at the moment I think we're just a bit short. But If we can be top 10 going into January, then we can maybe add a couple of players to make a late season push. You never know.

There's no chance we'll end up 15th, your pessimism was clearly high after pre-season.

We're only going to improve in my opinion, and I have faith at least one of our forwards will go on a scoring spree.

We've had a few tough games but come out unscathed, dominating 5 out of 6 games, and I'd argue we've not played any likely strugglers (obviously opinion, not fact).

I agree we've missed out on a couple of points due to poor finishing, but it's far from anything critical. A few of our fans are over-dramatic in my eyes.

I'd be disappointed if we missed out on the playoffs, and we've probably got an outside shot at the automatic spots.

Also, having just looked, last season's runaway champions Northampton didn't have a great start. They got 7 points (2W,1D,3L) compared to our 10 points after 6 games.

It's way too early to draw conclusions.

I went up to the game on the train. A great day out as always (plenty of good pubs to visit) despite us never winning at Brunton Park.
I thought Carlisle were very impressive first half and we couldn't get into the game but we came alive a bit more in the second half. I'm just glad our keeper Chapman was on form today after a shaky start to the season for him.
Some home fans I were talking to before the game were getting ready to give Coleman some stick not sure how he took it...

We're no where near good enough for automatic in my opinion. Admittedly we'll finish higher than 15th, I got that wrong. But based on the first 6 games I don't think we've got enough in the final third to trouble top 7.

Like I say though, if we can be in that top 10 around January, a couple of new signings could make the difference to push into that top 7 for the second part of the season.

I think what we're missing though is a lot easier to add that what we were missing last season, or what other teams are missing.

We dominate possession and get the ball into the attacking third, we defend well enough, have been caught napping a few times but aren't particular easy to break down. We just need to score more.

I'd rather be in that position than be a supporter whose team are weak in midfield and can't seem to take hold of games, or whose team are shipping goals. As cufc17 says, strikers have a tendency to go on sprees.

Another thing, we've hit the post/bar a fair few times this season already. Grainger hit the same strike yesterday as against Cheltenham, a bit of luck would put us 1-0 up in either game, and last week at Barnet we struck the upright 2 or 3 times.

I'd be more worried if we weren't creating the chances, or getting outplayed.

Sorry for gatecrashing this thread but its not really worth starting one. Carlisle fans, Where would you recommend we stop when we play you in November? Somewhere quite central near some pubs/bars etc. Stopping in t'Leeds on the Friday night to see the Courteeners so we've decided we'll do a night in Carlisle too.

I couldn't tell you too much to be honest, but there's an Ibis in the city centre which is in amongst a fair few pubs/clubs, and probably won't cost too much.

There's a fair few bed and breakfasts between the ground and the city centre. As for chain hotels in the city centre, there's an Ibis and a Travelodge. I presume the other hotels are more expensive.
