For us oldies this was one of the best games out there, personally preferred 97/98 as Wednesday were still in the Premier League but there is a free download from Eidos on www.champman0102.co.uk which can be patched to have current squads.

I've lost many a great hour playing championship manager 97/98. My wife got it me again for my birthday two years ago. Probably the best game ever. Great memories playing it too.

Excuse my technological ignorance, but will I need to go on a course to learn how to install it? I've had a brief look and the term "virtual drive" already has me feeling like a caveman.

I'm a caveman and found it easy enough pal, just youtube the tutorial.

lordofthepies and I have a network game of CM2000-01 on the go. It was bit of a fiddle to set up network play but not all that hard.

Might be fun to set some challenges, actually. Maybe I'll set one up the next time Pies is unavailable due to long-term live-in partner commitments.

The iso drive is easy it downloads straight on and when you double click the championship manager download it boots through that straight away. I had the same feeling as you and I'm alright with computers but it was straight forward .

been playing this the last 2 months its blooming addictive and remember now why i don't really enjoy FM series that much anymore.

lacks depth, it certainly can lack realism (stalybridge in conference beating man utd at old trafford in my first season springs to mind) its a game you can quickly surge up the leagues.

but its simple, basic bloody fun.............something that has been murdered off in management games.

I always install the latest database. But some of the player attributes are shocking, and I spend more time in the editor than anything else. For example I've seen Vardy with 15 for both pace and shooting. Just no!

I recently installed this after blasting through a lot of CM97/98 and doing some online challenges.

I have an issue where it says I do not have enough virtual memory, have fiddled with settings and hopefully have sorted it, but I couldn't get past September on previous games without it crashing
