Birmingham City travel to South East London today to face Charlton Athletic hoping to pick up where they left off down the road at neighbours Millwall on Tuesday night. Last season it was a happy valley for Blues with Federico Macheda scoring twice for the visitors. The Addicks as so many did last season had the upper hand at St Andrews with Dale Stephens scoring the only goal of the game in a 1-0 win for the Londoners.

City come into this one fresh from a first win in nine matches in all competitions. Clayton Donaldson, David Cotterill, and substitute Wes Thomas were on the score-sheet for Brum with the excellent Cotterill having a hand in all three goals. Lee Gregory provided the solitary strike for the Lions. It was a massive win for manager Lee Clark who was under huge pressure from the fans coming into the match.

Charlton are one of only 2 teams still unbeaten in the Championship and currently sit in a play-off position. Their last outing was a highly impressive 1-0 victory at leaders Norwich City courtesy of a Johnnie Jackson strike though by all accounts there was a touch of the smash and grab about it. Bob Peeters cuts an imposing figure in the dugout and the 6ft 5in Belgian boss will be happy with his teams impressive start to the season.

Birmingham have a few injuries to contend with currently. USA international Jonathan Spector is out for around 3 months with a torn thigh muscle and Lee Novak and Neal Eardley remain sidelined till the international break at least. There is some good news for Clark with Demari Gray available for selection after missing the midweek win at Millwall.

Charlton welcome back right back Chris Solly who is likely to go straight in to the side while Joe Gomez and Johann Gudmundsson will both miss the game. Influential defender Tal Ben-Haim will also be unavailable as he observes the Jewish holy day of Yom Kippur.

Probable Birmingham line up: 4-2-3-1 Randolph - Caddis, Edgar, Robinson, Grounds - Davis, Reilly - Cotterill, Gleeson, Arthur - Donaldson

Probable Charlton line up: 4-4-2 Henderson - Solly, Bikey, Morrison Wiggins - Moussa, Buyens, Bulot, Jackson - Cousins, Vetokele

I think the home side will be too strong for blues to go ten games unbeaten in the Championship is no mean feat. Verdict: 2-0
