A WHOPPING 13 Chinese Super League sides are set to forfeit from participating next season due to unpaid payments to players.
Clubs have until August 15 to correctly pay their players’ wages, as well as sending proof to the Chinese Football Association, otherwise they will be axed from competing.
The CFA and the Asian Football Confederation named 18 clubs in the Chinese football ladder accused of failing to pay their squad.
Among those clubs include Shanghai Shenhua, who boast Carlos Tevez in their ranks, who is on a healthy £615,000-a-week salary.
It is South American stars who rake in the most cash in China, with three Brazilians – Hulk, £60million midfielder Oscar and Elkeson plying their trade with Shaghai SIPG, another club in danger.
The Red Eagles also have former Chelsea and Real Madrid defender Ricardo Carvalho in their arsenal.
Ramires, a fellow Samba man made the move from Stamford Bridge to the Far East to join Jiangsu Suning for a then Chinese-record of £25million – yet another top team on the list.
Guangzhou Evergrande – the current champions are also on the damned list.
Earlier on this year, in an effort to clamp down on the number of foreign players joining the league, China’s General Administration of Sport set out plans to set a cap for club’s.
Teams were accused of “burning money” by the country’s top sports governing body, imploring them to focus on youth development.
Five sides from the China League One and Two have also been named in the list.
