It's that time of year when you can see where your club stands among the others and you're going to get your Xmas money and spend in the January sales where in football, everything is actually more expensive than the rest of the year!
Do you see yourself buying in January? And who? Or are you putting it all on book tokens?
Aside from knowing what you want, do you think you'll get it? Rate the likelihood and we'll see if you've been naughty this year and if Santa can be arsed to drop your presents off late.

A single unitary authority for urban Dorset
We've been linked we've goalkeepers, defenders, midfielders, and fowards

That probably tells a story that there isn't one area we really need, but just a general bit of extra quality and bodies anywhere we can really, depending on who is available, at what price, and who would fit into the club.

What would I wish for? Listed by priority:
1) Robert Huth or Ryan Shawcross. Or a genetically spliced combination of the two. Or Sylvan Distin 10 years ago. Or something similar to go in our defence.
2) A versatile full back, who is nice and steady defensively but has to be quick.
If we're being greedy
3) A touch of creativity in midfield/wide (not at all convinced by Tomlin currently)
4) An upgrade on Josh King up front, but that'd be very harsh considering how bloody well King has done just recently. Also a small chance we may see Wilson this season.

We also need to ship some out at some point. Given how fast we came up the levels we have a large squad of people who (if we do want to stay at this level longer term) are not going to be in the squad. Although I would have included Stanislas in this category 6 weeks ago, so I clearly know nothing and should be completely ignored.

We need a centre back and a striker. Some more quality in the middle wouldn't go a miss but the other two have to be the priorities, without them then we're going to have a very tough time avoiding relegation.

Wishlist: Mahrez + Krychowiak.

I can't see Mahrez moving until the summer, but he'd be a perfect fit on the right, with Alexis on the left and Giroud/Walcott central.

Krychowiak is a possibility and I prefer him to some of the younger players (Neves, Carvahlo) I've seen linked. He's strong and reads the game very well - like a Koscielny in midfield, looking to intercept passes and start counters. I have concerns about his technical level, but he looked more decisive when I saw him play for Poland. It could be because he takes on more responsibility at the international level.

I think it's likely we add at least one player this January. With recent news of a Welbeck setback, another forward is a possibility, but the priority is midfield.

Pretty sure Krycho signed a new long term contract in the past few months. He's going to cost a bomb.

Let's keep it realistic shall we?

Have you considered it may be the rest of us not being realistic in thinking they cannot attain said targets!?

Nah. They have no chance.

Conclusive

To add, I don't see us signing anyone in the January opposite-of-sales. Can't imagine the players we'd pursue being available and there's certainly no point of short sited knee jerk acquisitions because suddenly our squad looks paper thin ( :ffs:  :ffs: )

We badly need a left winger. We were linked with Yarmolenko in the summer but I think he's since signed a new deal at Dynamo Kiev, which probably tules him out.

I'd sell Aiden McGeady, he's basically 4th choice right winger and not very good either

Hard to see any big deals happening in January, at least not between Premiership clubs. Can see Townsend going on loan to somewhere where he would get games and Swansea trying to buy any available striker, but that's about it.

Wouldn't mind a full-back at Liverpool, we're a Clyne injury away from a disaster. Otherwise I'm happy to go with this squad until the summer.

Smith could do a job on the left and Flanagan could be fighting for a place in the next week or two, but I don't think Randall is an answer yet and I agree about cover being needed.

Smith, Flanagan and Randall, I just don't think any of them are good enough to be starting a string of games. I would be fine with Enrique covering at LB - I'm a little disappointed that even Klopp has kept the guy frozen out, he's a decent player - but Clyne is the only proper RB we have. The Red Cafu has simply been sidelined for far too long for me to have any expectations about him.

Flano scored from a free kick the other day you know, he could be Koeman mark 2 yet! :p Yeah well have to see how he is when back. Smith is a viable attacking option for the lesser games. Enrique doesn't seem to be bothering pushing for a place these days, he seems to be semi retired and happy about it. RB is a worry though if Clyne gets injured.

Who would you consider as the 'lesser' games?

Cup games or smaller teams in the PL at Anfield. He's only going to cover not replace Moreno any time soon.

Not sure anyone we brought in would help once all the life, individuality and enjoyment was coached out of them

Ok then

In: Mahrez, Mane, a Centreback and a Striker (Plus recall Janujaz and Wilson, if we can) A manger who lets the players play. Would like Giggs to have a go with Meulensteen and Queroz as assistants until the end of the season

Out: Rooney, Valdes, Powell & LVG
