You probably know what Hunt is all about but if you don't; came through the ranks as a left back but spent 90% of the time with us playing centre midfield, left wing and left forward. He's solid enough, but incredibly average. He had a strange habit of popping up with goals when playing further forward which somehow got him the move to Cambridge which defied his actual ability. He's not particularly good at anything, just all round average but is solid enough for you lot I'd say.

I thought posters had learnt to immediately disregard anything that Lew posts by now, sadly I've ended up disappointed.

Matt Sparrow might be alright - decent back-up option I guess, won't play every game obviously. Very cosy mid-table signing like the majority this Summer.

You'll be in the play-off hunt imo, certainly squad wise. Moyses' abilities might hold you back a bit though.

I think Lincoln's recruitment has looked pretty good this summer, arguably amongst the best in the league.

Their signings look better on paper then Wrexham's or ours do for example, and I expect them to do well, providing Moyses is capable of managing them properly.

We have the Millsiah to their Moysesiah though.

That could make all the difference. Good manager far more important at this level as most players are much of a muchness. Still think Lincoln have a strong looking squad though.

There is absolutely no way we will be in the Play-Off hunt.

2013/14 - "Jesus, Lincoln have made some good signings on that budget, definite dark horses. Simpson for PM/President/Overlord." - 14th place.

2014/15 - "No seriously, Lincoln have recruited well. Could gatecrash the Play-Offs, this is their chance." - 15th place.

2015/16 - rinse, repeat.

I remember talking to a Burnley fan a couple of years back, and them laughing at me saying they had a good chance of promotion. Their recruitment looked good to me on paper, plus they had a top manager in Dyche. I was right.

Lincoln have a real chance imo, and i'm tempted to lump on them for a top 5 finish, providing Moyses is at least half decent.

CM has said that if things don't go to plan he would step aside. Yes I know that doesn't mean we can guarantee to get anyone else in that's any good, but I do think we have a reasonable squad. The pre season business has been pretty good, my main concern is players being able to gel, like a lot of squads with new players, and our strength in depth.

Lincoln 9/2 for a top 5 finish with Boylesports, definitely worth a punt.

The very final statement of that post has just told you why you should save your money.

That will be Lincoln's problem, he's not. Think they will still do alright compared to their last 2 seasons though.

Tommo will be class at that level. I always thought he was good when played at CB, he just isn't a RB as Wembley showed.

This Jackson kid I have no idea about. It's just hopeful punt of a signing it seems, won't be expected to do too much.
They have just signed the ex Barrow right back Andy Burns so he will playing at Centre back for them I should think.

The signings seem a mixed bag for me, and they are going with a small squad which is a risk but understandable on the budget Lincoln have got. I would say a mid table finish is likely but the league looks very weak so you never know.

I'd just be happy with our first top half finish in ten years.

Or Imp in Branston's post. ;)

Haha, what a bellend. I blame my wife for being ill so taking my mind off the ball.

Sparrow started off really well when he joined on loan, but then very much settled into the rest of the squad's mindset of generally appearing to be shite. Unlike 95% of the team he appeared to give a shit, but he didn't strike me as someone prepared to take a match by the scruff of the neck if others around him weren't pulling their weight.

Maybe Sparrow just saves his best for playing in the lovely Lincolnshire flatlands! Am hoping he will be a good enough acquisition, especially having around 400 FL games under his belt, should be ok for us down here.

If you are confident check the 1FF Challenge thread i have a bet for you.
Great signing for you in Andy Monkhouse, he was a great one season player for us and sacrificed a lot to leave his family in Yorkshire to play for the Gas, I hope he is celebrating come May 2016 promotion back to the football league I wish him and Grimsby town every success next season, I hope, and think that you will win the title next year!!

We have signed ex Halifax and Guiseley Utility man Kevin Holsgrove.
Not a great signing on paper hopefully he will just be a squad player and we still are looking at bringing in Miller but I doubt it.

Monkhouse is ok. I loved him at first and he was probably one of my favourite players. Then he completely lost it and boy did he drive me mad. He got back into it at around 25 games though.

He blows hot and cold for me, which is a typical conference player. I had said all along that if we went up, I can imagine him being quite poor. He does have a great header on goal on him, although he doesn't win enough in the air for flick ons as he mistimes him jumps a fair bit. Good signing though, good luck to him. He always had the right attitude and linked well with our LB, Lee Brown.

Seems he was loved in the dressing room though so it is a shame to lose a big personality. Fingers crossed he can win the league with Grimsby next year

I'm amazed he's still in the game and wonder why he bothers. I think he just likes dressing up in football kits but has no particular interest in playing the game. :dk:

I don't think we'll be in for a PO hunt either. Take Hearn out and I'm struggling to see where goals are coming from at the minute (that said, we clearly need at least two strikers so we're not done up top yet). Last season, although we weren't prolific from open play, we had Newton and were a threat from set pieces. If Power's our set piece 'specialist' again this season, then that's not going to help an awful lot in that respect.

At least if things aren't going well Moyses has said he'll resign, which I suspect will be around the 15 games mark, but I'm really, really hoping that he proves me wrong.

Quietly pleased about Sparrow, though. Spent most of his days at the top end of L2 and in L1 and I'm hoping he can help Nolan out.

Bottega Don - views on Sparrow?

You and Wrexham probably have a better foundation of players, though, and don't necessarily need to sign 'main' players. We lost our main three players in Newton, Miller, Tomlinson so it's basically been a re-build (again).

He looked the part for about 10 minutes when we got him then he touched the ball and it went downhill from there:ds::ds:

To be fair to lincoln, some of there signings look good on paper.

But hearn has a shocking injury record in last 2 years.

And when we signed Kerr etc, thinking about experience, it didn't work out.

but despite against us, i hope your up there, and do well

Not the most glamorous of signings but he'll just be a squad player as he can fill a few positions.

I think we'll sign Miller, Young said we'll sign another winger and Connah's Quay recently signed a winger a few days after they announced a friendly with us. That's what I've got off yellowboard anyway.
