Haha, I think that’s best. It’s always suicidal on there at this part of the year. Barring Barnet fans, Hartlepool fans seem to be the most underwhelmed with their retained list, so that’s never a good start. But it’s RP, I don’t expect proper research to have been done.
I’d expect Hartlepool to improve next season, but not that much.

I'm with you, can't see us being a threat next year, we've lost Scott Loach, albeit signed Ben Killip, I also expect us to cash in on Josh Hawkes this summer which would be a massive blow, only signed two others Nicke Kabamba and Michael Raynes so far, we've finally cleared out the money grabbing shite like Cassidy and Newton so a top half season would be classed as success for me.

Solihull/Fylde/Chesterfield/Bromley the threats at the top next season.

Ebbsfleet sign Ayo Obileye from Maidenhead.

Not sure what their budget will be for next season with the problems they have there, but that's a poor signing on paper. Awful, clumsy CB, slightly better at DM but still too crude and limited for that position. Not sure why the bankrolled clubs rate him so much (he was at Eastleigh before) - NL South at best.

I see you placed between 8th and 12th, maybe flirt with the play offs. Hawkes is a good player, so he’d be key to that and I also think Kabamba is a decent striker. I just don’t think the defence will be good enough to earn key points.

I don’t know about Bromley yet, Cheek is a solid signing, but I’ve not noticed any other Top 7 quality signings. I’d look at Harrogate more, if Scott Brown still has legs.

I expected Chesterfield to be more like Fylde once the season closed, picking up players left right and centre, but that’s not been the case so far, so they’re an unknown right now.

Fylde and Solihull looking good though, although it depends on if McCallum can keep up his form, and looking at his career to date, it’s a big if.

Are Ebbsfleet going to pay their players this season?

I'm amazed that anyone would sign for them after their issues this season, though Ayo was no longer needed here and I was expecting him to join someone like Wealdstone so has probably jumped at the chance to stay at this level.

I wouldn’t view top half as a success, the only definition of a decent season for us here would be in the top 7 but we have to be realistic and know that realistically top half is as good as it will get next season. We’ll be here for years and years.

IMO Adrian Clifton is a better forward than Cheek and will probably score more for them too.

With the money they are spending they should be in or around the playoffs.

What money?
There is one undisclosed fee rumoured to be next to nothing. We still aren’t paying agent fees and 5 of our bigger wage bills from last season are off the books.
All but Cousins were freebies.

Really? Personally I thought Clifton was an attacking midfielder. But based on the last 4 seasons, if I had to choose one to sign, I know which one I’d pick. I think if we signed a 30 year old from Maidenhead, who’s had one half decent season, RP would be a very fun place indeed.

Clifton is a better all round footballer I think and was also playing in a much poorer team.

They're both decent, Clifton + Cheek is a top 7 forward line.

You've definitely upgraded your front line, play offs looks a distinct possibility for Bromley.

Roger Johnson, Richard Brindley and Omar Bugiel leaving has freed up a huge chunk of wage space. Add all the other contracted departures we’ve pretty much covered ourselves wage wise.
Some clever business this summer but as I said before, I don’t want to see us over stretch and start messing with financial issues.

We've signed Liam Mandeville after he was released by Donny. Never heard of him to be honest. Got 15 in 49 for them. That should be it for strikers, because to be honest I was quite happy with Boden/Denton big/little combination up front. Can't imagine this guy is dropping to non league to be backup

He's not a striker, plays as a number 10 or out wide, got 10 assists for us last season. Very very good on his day, just need to keep his head on the game. Gutted we haven't signed him to be honest.

Oh right, my mistake. Sounds good then that, we're desperate for someone with a bit of creativity.

Joey Jones has turned down Eastleigh's offer of a contract for next season & has signed a 2 year deal with Salford.
Andrew Boyce has re-signed for Eastleigh.

I'm pretty sure I know the answer, but if someone could confirm that Joe Ironside is nowhere near good enough for league football that would be great. Thanks in advance.

Also, at the same time if someone could explain how on earth Joey Jones of 'Being Totally Shite at Woking' fame has got that move to Salford.

He's a 20 goal a season striker at North level. Not sure he'll be hitting those numbers in the fl but if you play to his strengths he'll still be a good number 9 for you.

I’ll never forget Joey Jones’ glorious assist for our 94th minute winner at Woking on our way to the title.

Wouldn't have given Dan Jones much of a chance in League 1, but reckon he'll do really well with Salford, who'll be up the top end of the table.

Cheek was on £1200 a week at Dagenham two season ago. He only left once a club matched his wage, Ebbsfleet. Sure he was contracted there for at least another year so won’t be on any less surely?

Probably be back up anyway. Pond and Piergianni be first choice centre halves and can't see him being left back over touray

You probably can for the right price.

Our GK situation is weird at the minute, but he ended up 3rd choice last season but still played 20 odd games.

The owner is happy to pay. Its probably trying to convince smith himself its the right move

I like Dan Jones, good player, always looks comfortable on the ball. I thought he played further forward though. I remember him scoring in the 3-3 draw against us (I think), he cut in off the right wing and popped one deep into the keeper’s far post out of nowhere, completely stunned us.
