Elliot Hewitt's turned down our offer of a contract to stay in the Football League. Unsurprising but still disappointing as he looked quality at centre back once he moved there. Hope he gets used there wherever he goes as he's a bog standard full back/midfielder. Deserves to stay in the league though, so good luck to him.

He’s alright in midfield to be fair, played a whole season there when we made the League Two play-offs. Hopeless at right back.

As SoC said, he was average at both RB and CM but when put at CB for the last 3 months, he’s been very good. Might get bullied in the air by some bigger lads but he’s got the pace that most CBs don’t have. Good luck to him but I think Hurst will do fine in finding a defence.

Mixed feelings, on the one hand am not bothered, was poor most of the time with us, and the more players gone from last seasons squad the better. Hopefully we pay off some of the frauds still under contract as well.

On the other hand, since Hurst came in and put him at CB he's been excellent.

Funny game as it was at right back that he came through into our first team, and stood out like sore thumb he was that good!!

We signed Jude Oyibo from Curzon Ashton earlier in the week. Remember him coming on against us earlier in the season and tearing us apart. Was wanted elsewhere but keen to sign so signed up for our trial day a few weeks ago.

Two further signings - Goalkeeper Tommy Taylor from Buxton, and Centre Back Lexus Beedon from Welling. Bit random the second one, but apparently wants to test himself in NLN as better standard than South.

Lost a few this summer - Adam Campbell has gone to Gateshead for a full time contract, Dan Maguire, Jordan Watson, Michael Liddle and Sean Reid gone back to Blyth. Released a few as well, so quite a rebuild needed.

Really? Never heard of him. :dk:
He played in that Harrogate game when Louis Boyd scored and had been on the bench in the league a few times. Was his first pro-contract last season, Holloway signed him up in the summer. Never really saw him, but he was supposed to be decent. Guess Hurst wasn't arsed though, probably doesn't see full back positions as ones to have youngsters with no experience in. Good luck to him.

Sticking on the subject of our youngsters, Luis Adlard has signed his first professional deal with us:

Always seem to find someone with money to subsidise them.
Yeah, I don't like seeing Gateshead above you. The plan is that we consolidate for a year down here. You lot win the National North and then we ride back into the Football League together the season after. We've come down to collect our relegation brothers.

While our other relegation Brothers Southend are left down here to fester, shame on you SOC. :lac:

Which means we'll have to hope someone goes bust and only one team goes down or we come down with Scunny or someone else we don't mind leaving down here.

Dave Tarpey signs for step 4 side Bracknell Town. They are well funded but still a big step down.

Worked with Bobby Wilkinson before, I thought he hated the 4G which Bracknell play on though?

Bracknell have moved to Sandhurst Town's ground although that is also 3G. I would guess the slower pace of football will make things easier for him.
