Jordan Piggott signs on loan from Solihull. Centre back who can also play in midfield apparently.

We've signed Jordan Slew (striker) . He's had more clubs than I have hot dinners. Hasn't done much at any of them either. Smacks of a cheap option but I'll give him a chance
When with us he tried really hard, and so fans liked him, but did not have the necessary finishing quality. I remember that for a not too talk bloke he was fairly good at winning and holding up the ball, and did occasionally play the lone striker for us.

Bromley signed Nathan Tormey from Arsenal.
Think they’re going under the radar and will be right up there with the well publicised sides.

Turned down a 3 year contract at arsenal a year ago and been without a club for a year and now ends up at Bromley. Could go either way but very little senior football.

Massive fall from grace after turning down Arsenals contract offer last year, but fair play if it works for him he can definitely make a good career from the bottom up.

I agree about Bromley, one of a number of teams who could really upset the odds.

I disagree, I think it will be a major surprise if someone outside of the top two in the betting won the league and an absolute shock if the winner came from outside the top eight (in the betting).

Lois Maynard has joined Solihull on a season long loan.

I think we'll be bringing in a midfielder at some point now.

I dont mean they will win the league, that would be a huge upset. But they will take points off the top teams and it wouldn't be a stretch to see them in the play offs again, which would mean one of the more fancied teams will miss out.

Good signing for Solihull. Been a low end league 2/high end national league player since his spell with us.

He's average in my opinion. Too slow and ponderous. He got rave reviews before he came here but I wonder if age and/or injuries has just caught up with him.

Aye I watched him quite a bit at Salford and was impressed but his legs have gone.

I don't think you could claim it as a major surprise if Notts, Chesterfield, Grimsby, Torquay or Southend won the league tbh.

Ardley absolutely loves a slow and ponderous experienced midfielder, so Maynard sounds about right for them.

The thing is I think Ardley said he's signed him because he's athletic and dynamic or whatever.

He must be using the same dated scouting software as Phil Brown because he wasn't like that for us.

Notts and Chesterfield I’d agree with, but I’d class it as a major surprise if Southend Torquay or ourselves win it given current squads.

I’d be mildly surprised. There’s at least half the league that would be a less surprising winner than either of the last two.

I would be astounded if we get anywhere near winning it but then who would have said Sutton would win it last season (or Barrow the year before)?

Grimsby are going nowhere, we need someone to fill the vacancy Wrexham are going to create and Grimsby fit like a glove. :fl:

Yes, that is why I said it would be a massive surprise, and if so at least we can look back on our 100+ year Football League history which is 100 years more than you losers have had or ever will have.

Holman, there's a blast from the past.
He's done bugger all for 5 years (actually announced his retirement in February!) but he's still only 31 and has looked fit in our friendlies and scored a few goals (another one today against Chippenham).

Worth a punt I reckon.
