Looks a good signing for BWOOD. Their forward options looked the dodgiest part of their squad. They leap ahead as the most likely tinpotter to go up this year.

See Telford signed Andre Wright. Legitimately one of the worst players I've ever seen when he was with us.

Sunderland specifically said that they didn’t play him in the Pizza Trophy because that would’ve meant he couldn’t go back on loan to us, but not sure about the playing for too many clubs in one year thing (or even whether it applies at this level, some players seem to move around all the time).
That's interesting, but also not good for us with Towleer if that's the case. I'm sure that it used to be two clubs at the top five tiers, as I remember players dropping down to the Conference North/South occasionally, as that was the highest they could play after leaving two clubs.

Jack Vale loan now expired with us. We badly need a winger after losing him and Newby in quick succession.

Apparently we paid Chorley between 15-20k for Newby. I’m sure we’d sell him at a similar price.

Lopata extends loan from blades till end of the season. Brunt has gone definitely so expecting him to show up elsewhere shortly

Brunt was training with us today apparently - imagine we’ll announce he’s signed shortly.

Happy with that

Same. I’m a bit surprised because Sheffield United seem to rate him and I don’t really see how he gets regular starts (unless, you know), but it’s good depth and we’ll presumably end up rotating him with Roberts and Vincent.

As expected - Brunt confirmed. Some peak Burchnall stuff where we’re worried this five foot tall attacking midfielder could be a replacement for Rodrigues and the first thing he says is “he could play the holding role”.

We’ve announced Harrison Neal another blades under-23 loanee. John still really utilising his contacts in Darren Currie to unearth these gems

Yeah, not sure about the Brunt signing but on the plus side, I felt like most of the season you’ve looked at the bench and it’s largely Sam, Mitchell and Nemane. So it gives us an option with a bit more guile and quality, I just can’t see who drops out of the team out of Palmer, Vincent, Roberts and Rodrigues but then I guess you can’t really bank on all 4 + Brunt being fit for the rest of the season and then relying heavily on an O’Brien for an extended period during the run-in.

That’s the sensible view, the truth is Burchnall will just play all of them because he’s the fucking boy.

Nemane is a weird one, liked the look of him when he’s played but he’s an out-and-out winger and we don’t use them at all. Odd signing in hindsight.

If Harrison Neal is as good as Brunt in his loan, that'll do for me. Played for Kettering on loan this season and scored for them last Sunday. Keeping Jacper Lopata is a bonus, coupled with Ollie earlier in the month, so that's one out one staying and 2 in. More to come this week too so l am hearing. If we stay up it's a big thanks to one of the other SUFCs lol.

I was surprised by this quote too. I can only assume it is to try and stop negative speculation about other players in your side from the fanbase.

I didn't see anything in Brunt to suggest he could play in a midfield 2 or as a holding midfielder. However, I saw a kid with bundles of ability, the right attitude and great to watch. I was hoping he would stay as his output is only 3 assists so far - not bad, probably good in a team as bad as us, but not standout - but he will almost certainly thrive with better players. Far too good for us and very few were on his wavelength. Good luck to him.

As for Southend, if we can sign 2-3 and stay up, in the long run it will benefit us to not rely on a player that we won't have next season anyway.

He’s a bit mad is our Ian. Someone suggested earlier in the thread that we might try Brunt in the back three, and he was only half joking. His main thing is you need to be comfortable on the ball, otherwise he’s always trying players in new positions, often with decent success tbf.

Was it discussed on your forum about if he'd have played for Sunderland upon his return, whether or not he'd be able to go on loan to anyone else? It's something we're wondering about with Towler, if he plays for Bristol City does that mean he can only then go back to us, as it would mean he's played for two clubs? Someone's on thefishy thought it had been extended to three clubs last season but I've not read anything concrete about this season.
My understanding is that we could loan him to another football League club as the loan to you wouldn't count, but our forum doesn't seem clear. Not even sure if that's what you asked?

He played for us NYD and gave away a Penalty and then got taken off after half time, but he is well thought of here. I see Bell has come back too. What were your thoughts on them?

Apparently loans to National League clubs don’t count towards the ‘two clubs in a season’ thing. Brunt who we signed today has already played for Sheffield United and Southend this season, but could go out on loan elsewhere whether to us or a league team.

We had this discussion on our website, as Brunt played for Shef. Utd in the Carabu Cup. The reason he can play for Notts County is nothing to do with us both being National League, that counts towards the 3 club rule, it is because he was on a youth loan to us and presumably with Notts. Co. too and youth loans don't count for the three club rule.

The Sheffield papers got confused too and gave us hope that it was either back to Sheffield or finish the season with us, after the umbongo was lifted. His father, who goes by the name of Borat on forums, gave us the inside track on that rule.

Hope that helps ;-)

I've seen nothing from Brunt to suggest he can play anywhere but in an attacking midfield role, or in behind a front one/two. We kept playing him on the wing, he's utterly lost there and may as well have not been on the pitch. Great feet and touch and undoubtedly hampered by the utter crap around him here.

I did wonder why he didn't get a loan to a league side but then I thought the style of football Notts play (and not knowing much about L2/L1 these days) this move is probably really good for him, the way Notts play he should thrive.

Ta Kim. For what it’s worth I don’t think he’ll play much else other than AM/10 role at Notts

I think Gloucester City should be happy with us extending loans for Tomlinson & Hulbert.
