Had a positive finance update last week, we're in a very healthy state, best we've been in since we reformed despite Covid and the grant fiasco. But, given our model, that would have changed quickly without support if the season had played out.

We have signed a right back from Salford on loan for a month.

Stockport have snapped up Newby and Cardwell from Chorley.

I see James Hardy has signed for Alty. Good signing for them

Always quite liked Hardy, but he like others this season had a weird time of it at Telford.

Scott Boden in on loan from Chesterfield. The experienced stiker we need.

Does he still have something to offer us Chesterfield fans?

Been pretty poor for last season and a half, but he was absolute top quality when we first re-signed him part way through 18/19 season from Gateshead... if you get that Boden back you’ve got a player!

Has a tendency to go missing in games and contributes very little apart from in and around the penalty box... I hope it works out for him as I’ve always liked Boden, just think he’s a bit past it these days

One of the furlough gang off our wage bill properly now so one less for the residents of Stockport to worry about.

Good luck to him, was a player for us but lost his way, pace, fitness etc so not the same player anymore.

I always rated Boden even the first time he was with us. He's got a strikers knack of where to be for tap ins and stuff. The lad just hasn't and has never had a complete game though. I don't think he's lazy, I think he just doesn't know what to do. He'll always score goals though I think given game time

Barnet sign Tomi Adeloye. Do I need to update the shit strikers thread as well?
Don't understand why Barnet would make any signings this season. With no relegation, surely it would make more sense to save up for next season?

Flowers has made it pretty clear that he is not comfortable with us taking the rest of the season off. Although this looks like a very cheap and questionable signing that doesn't solve any of our many problems.

If that’s you lot not taking the season off last night then I’d hate to see the result if you were.

Are you worse under Flowers than Beadle?

I can't say we look any worse, but standards were so low under Beadle that even a slight improvement still makes us terrible.

The one big negative for Flowers is that he has been given a budget and has little to show for it. On day 1 he went off on one about how unfit the players were. This seemed fair enough, so the chairman allowed him to bring in a new strength and conditioning coach, and a new physio, and we splurged some cash on GPS trackers and fitness data analytics software (or something like that) as well. None of this seems to have made much difference, and despite this Flowers dropped our starting left back in favour of the clearly overweight Jerome Binnom-Williams, which doesn't exactly seem to be in line with his focus on fitness.

I will credit him with improving us at centre back - Liam Daly is a proper CB who looks reliable - but he also gave a 2.5 year deal to Ben Richards-Everton who came with scathing reviews from Bradford fans and hasn't looked great. Our full backs are still terrible, including one he has brought in on loan who has been very poor.

The midfield has been awful but Flowers has not only not strengthened it, but released Dean Parrett to raise funds which meant we lost the only real creative force we had.

We've gone ultra-direct (although we were never pretty under Beadle) but we have way too many fundamental flaws - awful full backs, no midfield, and our forwards do not gel, JJ Hooper's laziness is very frustrating in that position.

Flowers already appears at the end of his tether. In every interview he rants about how crap the players are for not listening to his instructions, but he signed many of them and there's only so long he can carry on doing that without getting fed up.

He also keeps asking for more money for signings from the chairman but realistically he probably won't get it due to the pandemic and relegation being scrapped, plus his poor record on the budget he's had to date. The signing we made today will be on a pittance and he's a journeyman anyway, like much of the squad.

I can see Flowers walking, but I believe his contract lasts until the end of next season so it depends how much of a financial hit he is prepared to take to save his own reputation. I can't really see him being sacked and the chairman incurring a large cost at this point given how reluctant he is to spend with no relegation to worry about.

In short, it's going to be like groundhog day until one side gets fed up.

JJ Hooper is such a frustrating player. Real quality there but such a lazy player, he just doesn't look interested most of the time and will down tools the minute things go against him.
Was out the team here for a couple of months under beadle due to “injury”. The real reason was they were fed up with his attitude in training and games

There was money made available to Flowers because you made a huge offer for Jacob Mendy. £50,000 transfer fee (his release clause) and offered to treble his wages. He is an outstanding player at this level but won't be a NL player for long. Fully expecting a big money move to the EFL this summer.

Yes, money was made available to him but it looks like he wasted whatever he was given. He is unlikely to get more to spend beyond small change.

It was a good appointment on paper but Flowers is playing hardball on our playing style until he gets a budget to fully overhaul the squad. Which he won't.

what’s your playing style? All flowers Solihull did was go long and beat the shit out of you. If it moved it got bruised. Bigger players than the all blacks

Relentless long ball, but without any organisation and several players who are either not good enough for this level or past it.

Signed Tom Smith on loan from Bath until end of season, 22 years old looks a handy player to have in midfield. Seems that John Still was involved in the deal.

Yep, he was like that here got a good while and looked like he’d be on his way and then Jolley came in as manager and suddenly Hooper was like a man possessed and the last few games of that season he was sensational.
Then the next season started and he was back to being shite and lazy again.

We have signed a right back from Salford on loan for a month.

Poor old Tylor Golden is going to be a Notts quiz answer forever. Gone back to Salford injured after half an hour in the FA Trophy, scoring an own goal in the process.

We want a replacement and a centre back with Turner now injured. Our ability/willingness to just go out and sign more cover when we get injuries is going to be prove extremely useful during the run in, I suspect.
