The cynic in me thinks that the big money Madden signing was probably a way Stott thinks he cantake some heat off the saga that was sacking Gannon for Rusk, Stott/Wilson are no mugs to realise that the atmosphere at the club will be very sour if this season falls flat on its arse because of a managerial change. Also helps if Madden contributes to us going up this season!

I'll never agree with the Gannon sacking and I wish Stott had decided to go down the strong football CEO route and allow Gannon to have control over the football side rather than Wilson running the show, but it's happened now and I just want the club to enjoy a bit of success. God knows we've 'earnt' it.

Was there ever any truth to the speculation that Gannon was fired for his conduct? I can see him being one of the candidates for our job in the summer.

Signed Saidou Khan on loan from Maidstone after releasing Charlee Adams yesterday. Appears we’re treating the remaining games as a early pre-season as our current season is done.

John Still would of recommended him to you, he was a massive fan of his.

Good luck to the lad, hes good enough for that level......he would of left us a year ago if he didn't get injured. I know Luton sent scouts to watch him a couple of times back in late 2019, early 2020.

Edgeley Park has more leaks than a broken colander, information gets around quicker than any room of washerwomen; if there was anything truth to that sort of thing then we'd know about it.

Bear in mind JG is more of a long-term, build things up from top to bottom, type of manager. Honestly I wouldn't expect him to step back into management at this level any time soon, probably somewhere further down the pyramid where he could do the above, like he did at Northwich

I remember the commotion on here when Salford signed Rooney on 4k a week apparently. Stockport have trumped that you would think with the signing on fee. Quarter of a million. Not messing about their owner is he. I remember when Salford beat us in the playoff final and Gary Neville said they threw loads of money at it because they wanted out at the first attempt. Instead of building and building. He got kind of lucky really. Maybe Stockport have the same idea. Spend a fortune now and gamble on getting out this season

£3.5k a week.... figures like that are absurd in the league above never mind non league football!

Tends to all end in tears deals like that... Chris O’Grady springs to mind for us when we made him the highest paid player in our history in 2017... guess how that ended up

Is there a transfer/registration deadline to come? I've forgotten how it works.

I thought you had quite a decent ‘keeper in that Hinchcliffe anyway?

Yeah he's decent Hinchliffe, I can't see this new guy taking his place from the get go. Our current reserve goalkeeper is quite young and was signed after a trial in the summer, not sure we'd be that confident in him if we had to depend on him so this looks a case of trying to cover all bases.

There's been a fair bit of criticism of those running our club with Gannon's departure, Rusk coming in etc but I don't think anybody could argue we don't back the manager in terms of squad etc.

In all fairness, goalkeeper is the only position we didn't have 5 players competing for

If what I’ve heard about Rusk is about right, Fitz is the kind of goalkeeper he might want. Makes some of the hard playing out stuff look easy, but struggles with the more routine goalkeeping side.

Was he the 'keeper that had a mare against us in your relegation season? If so, was being slagged off left, right and centre at the start of that season, he always seemed to dropping clangers.

At your place? Yep, that’s the one. Nolan wanted to keep Adam Collin, our first choice from the previous year, but Hardy wouldn’t let him because he wanted Fitzsimons in as a potentially saleable asset because he’d had a few decent performances coming in when Collin was injured the previous season. Made a few huge mistakes at the start of that season when we started horrendously and Ardley replaced him with a kid from Huddersfield pretty much as soon as he took over.

Sweden under 21's striker Benjamin Mbunga-Kimpioka on loan until the end of the season from Sunderland. The Johnson father/son connection in action!

Harry Bunn and Tinkler are worth re signing personally just enjoying Jack Cassidy isn’t on list.

"Wealdstone have signed 22-year old defender Nikola Tavares from Crystal Palace on a short-term deal until the end of the season.

The South African-born defender has represented Croatia at U20 level and despite not making an appearance for the Eagles, made the first team subs bench several times in the past two seasons in Premier League and EFL Cup fixtures.

Nik has been given the number 21 shirt and goes straight into Stuart Maynard's squad to face Solihull Moors on Tuesday night."

Yes he has been a very good signing, top goal scorer last season from centre back, should be playing higher.
Did fall out with a caretaker manager but last 2 managers have loved him.

He was our captain at some point under Gary Mills. I always thought he was a good player for us, but a lot of fans linked him too much to a bad spell in our history and wanted him out. And I think he then fell out with Keates and followed Mills to York

How long have you been playing him at CB. He was LB here so I'm assuming his legs have gone, not that he was ever overly quick.

He's probably playing a level below where he should be.
