Weve made three attacking signings, Chris Sang, Gold Omotayo and Keanu Marsh Brown.

I know Omotayo was at Halifax and Yeovil and didn't do much at either place. I liked KMB at FGR, Barnet fans have some sort of issue with his mum.

Omotayo was an amateur keeper who tried his luck up front and managed to score a few for Whitehawk, but hasn't done anything impressive anywhere else, though he did have a cage fight a few years back so the lad has balls at least.

Omotayo was awful for us. Seemed to have a good knack of getting himself in the right places but missed several sitters. Incoming Omatayo screamer on Tuesday.

Its hard to take anything from yesterday's match bevause we were generally poor but he didn't impress much in his brief cameo, very heavy touch. He won a few useful headers.

Marsh Brown looked fairly useful at least.

Manny Oyeleke has signed from Vale for us today.

In for his vaccine at 3pm, straight into the side tonight.

Midfielder Manny Oyeleke signed today on a 2 year deal from Port Vale for a small undisclosed fee (£10k rumoured)

From what’s been said on social media, keep him fit and we’ve got ‘one of the best midfielders in league 2’ to quote the vale fans

Don't you guys have a massive loan to pay back? How are you managing this.

The replies to our tweet about the signing fill me with some confidence to sat the least.

I can hear the chant now - "You're just a good Adi Yussef"

£1m quid with 5 year holiday repayment over 20 years at 2%. Peanuts.

Whilst i'm here, who's your best player?

Has anyone ever signed someone with the reviews ‘he’ll be great if you can keep him fit’ and them subsequently not been injured all the time?

Peanuts? Wow. Oh to be in your position. We've taken a loan out over half as little as that and our chairmans shitting himself haha

Asante probably one of a very small number. We got a decent amount of games out of Drew Talbot too tbf.

No in all seriousness I think the holiday payment just allows us to kick the can down the road somewhat, and obviously gamble that we will be back in the FL by that point with all its riches it becomes a more manageable payment plan.

I've no idea of the new boards financial clout, they have reduced the wage bill apparently and we're set to release 10-15 players in June I think so next season should have a clean slate to have a good at going up if we don't manage it this year.

They took £1 million in loans from the Councils right at the outset. Just another million or so on top is nothing to them.

Jack Earing is by far the player in our squad with the most potential for the future. But he's out of contract in the summer anyway.

When we signed Manny Smith that was the consensus. But to be fair he was great for us for two seasons, Gary Mills let him go to Gateshead where he had a full season there. We brought him back, he was brilliant for a while.....then he got injured and never recovered.

Rob Lainton too, injuries appear to be catching up with him now too.

We are maybe unlucky on this, but convinced we make one signing like this every season and their last three clubs are all like ‘he’d be a Championship player if his legs worked’, they manage three promising appearances before disappearing with a ‘strain’ for six months and signing for Mickleover Sports.

Actually, we’ve bucked the trend this year with Jake Reeves who has just been omnipresent but shit instead.

Don't know why they needed the loan if they can afford to sign players on fees. I dont know the club but it just feels like cheating the system to me

With Asante I wonder whether it benefits him being full time and at a club where he can get the sort of physio attention he needs that he might not have been getting at a club with less resources like Chester.

That said these things usually catch up with a player, if its been a persistent problem. Chesterfield seem to be gambling quite a lot on a few different things this season (especoally financially), but there is every chance that it'll work for them. They look the most likely to go up through the play offs for me.

Get Manny fit he will be the best midfielder in this division, head and shoulders... BUT there is a reason we’ve let him go and that is just can’t get fit for more than 4 or 5 games without months on the sideline (played 150 minutes last season for example).

Wish him well, great lad and hope he can get a run of games. Sad to see him go but with the cap down to 20 we couldn’t risk it and best to take £10k now then let him go for free.

Good luck Manny!

Hmm. They also say, on this very website:

“He needs a run of games to get up to speed. Once up to speed his technical ability as a marauding centre mid is above L2 level.

“The problem is, 9 times out of 10 he gets another muscular injury during that run of games.

“Hence a 10 year career average of 16 appearances a season. That's including being subbed on, not 16 full games.

“As above be prepared to wince every time he's challenged. You will watch him limp off multiple times a season. You will watch him go off early in the first half. You will watch him get injured in the warm ups and require subbing before kickoff.

“I think much of it is all in his head as the only alternative is he has a congenital genetic abnormality where his soft tissue is made out of Haribo gelatin.”

Still, good luck to him. Wouldn’t wish persistent injuries on anyone.

You didn't have much choice about taking the loan to be fair what with no other income.
Whether it's a God send or a lead weight will be decided over the next few years

This type of player and history is so common in NL .Always taking a risk with injuries but that's why often they are at our level of football.
Clubs will talk up players when they sign and some will disappear after a few months

Even if he does struggle with injuries whilst he’s here, we’ve been doing alright with out him up to now under James Rowe... so if he adds just a little bit of extra quality when he’s fit that we may have been lacking in those central areas beforehand, that’ll do for me...

Seeing as quite a few folk seem to take great interest in our finances, makes you wonder where they were when we were selling half our squad (including record fees) whilst the club plummeted down the leagues.

I don't remember the concern then......or is it only when money is being spent, and potentially detrimental to their own team's fortunes when it becomes an issue?

All the best to him was a joy to watch him play for us even if him actually playing wasn’t that often. Think it’s a good move for all parties concerned overall.

I’m going to be very interested now to see how he holds up injury wise as if Chesterfield get a lot more games out of him it suggests something grossly negligent going on at the Vale the last few years. I suspect with Manny at this point though it’s something you’ll more likely have to work around with him though.

True, the alternative is other loans to get by at less favourable rates. It's a no brainer really to take the loan offered as opposed to one from the bank, the local councils or whatever and pay more interest etc.

It's a gamble, but not one that will go massively wrong like in previous years with players on silly money, long contracts like we've had to battle from the last 3 years thanks to Martin Allen, Dean Saunders, Gary Caldwell etc. Like mentioned our wage bill and budgets have reduced YOY, and will do so again next year according to the board. We're no longer signing journeymen after a paycheque on 2/3 year deals we're taking better players, with potential for re-sell on lower wages from the lower leagues (this kid from Vale aside)
