Excellent signing. Rapid striker with good movement and can finish too.
Well the last time we signed from the North, Ryan Johnson from Kidderminster, he turned out all right despite their fans slating him, Chester doing the same on their forum so I see.

Bennett is obviously back to Stockport after 28 days now they know there's a player there and we clearly can't be arsed with Bloomfield so we'll see if he gets a chance.

I don’t think he is being slated on our forum in the two years he has been with us he had Asante as the number one in the first season then just when he got his chance the season has been halted by Covid, he does have pace to burn and won’t cost a fortune in wages as he along with the other players took a big pay cut to stay at Chester. Give the lad a chance and see what happens.

What level do you reckon you'll start at?
No idea yet. Still waiting for the shake out from this season and see where the gaps are. Hopefully maybe a gap in northern league but if it has to be North West Counties Div 2 North then so be it.

There'd be some players in this league that still wouldn't cut it that low down!!

Elliott has obvious strengths, he's quick, athletic and has a decent shot on him. But if you break down his 17 goals for us, 6 of them were in the Cheshire Cup, 4 were penalties and a further 1 was a rebound in after initially having a penalty saved. Most of his goals were against bottom half sides as well so sometimes looked lacking in the big games.

Good player but from our point of view he's replaceable. Best of luck to him.

Ferguson came from York & Sterry from South Shields, both have been fantastic.
I'll trust DC's judgement.

James Montgomery, keeper from Gateshead? Strange one, not sure what Smith has done wrong, or picked up a knock?

Probably  we've got about 6 thousand players now. Fuck it, be rate. After the last 5 or so years, so long as we're winning I struggle to care tbh

1 keeper in 1 out it seems. Pryzbek gone back to Ipswich.

Yeah makes complete sense this given Pryzbek gone back

Don’t expect Montgomery to be anything other than backup for Smith given how well he’s done.

I knew he had, but looks like it's only been confirmed this morning.

No doubt someone will still find a way to sling some mud but we need a back up keeper for obvious reasons. I fully expect us to sign Grant Smith on for next season too, he's been a revelation in my opinion

JR seemingly (understandably) not happy at the ‘inaccurate’ reporting surrounding our transfer business and the furlough saga and come out all guns blazing in the presser this morning. Here’s what he’s had to say, as reported by Liam Norcliffe (Derbyshire Times)...

“It has been really pleasing that the board has backed me on the transfers I wanted to bring in,
But, on that, some of the inaccurate reports on transfer fees we have paid have been wild, way off the mark.

“Also, the timing of those fees won’t be coming out of this year’s budget.

“And thirdly we have cut the budget by 20 per cent going into next year so there is no wild spending here, it has been capped and very measured towards the financial stability of the club.

“The work that has been done by the staff and the board has been remarkable on the football side. There is no doubt we have played very well in these four months, we have been excellent to get up to fifth.

“But the mud that has been thrown towards the club I am not happy with because it is inaccurate.

“It is similar with furloughing of the players, we weren't the first to do it in this league and we are not the last. There has been furloughing of players throughout the league but it seems that because we have been honest about it we get mud thrown at us and I don’t really accept that to be honest."

He added: “The budget has been cut, it needed to be transformed because it had not worked in the two previous years in the National League so it was important we started changing that, staff and players, and we have done that and we are getting instant success.”

He sounds like my Mrs "the more we spend the more we save".

I mean, that doesn’t remotely address what they’re being criticised for, but whatever.

Don't know who JR is, but he sounds like a petulant baby.

Also, what is "inaccurate mud"?

If we've reduced our budget by 20% already then it's a great start. With 15 or so out of contract in the summer too expect a similar turnover of players in and out throughout June/July.

We’re in a good place with this man at the helm mate, and this lot on here know it too. The fact JR and the board have managed to achieve that off the pitch, whilst at the same time improving us drastically on the pitch in such a short period of time, is testament to the work that they’re doing. Not least to mention that’s all been achieved in the midst of a pandemic...

As I’ve said before, the more we’re spoke about the better cos it means we’re still doing alright on the pitch... once we stop getting criticised, that is when it’s time to panic. Tends to be how it goes isn’t it? Can’t remember any coverage/support from any quarters when we had those leeches in charge of the club and we were in free fall through the leagues almost to the point of regional football....
