Effiong didn't really seem to be too good at anything during his Notts loan. We probably didn't play to his strengths as I remember seeing him at Dover and he was a handful for most defences.

He was just a weird signing, basically Wootton but not as good in any way, so they looked awkward as a pair and he was never going to play instead of Kyle.

Dave Tarpey signs for step 4 side Bracknell Town. They are well funded but still a big step down.
He's the wrong side of 30 now I think? After his ACL injury, I'm guessing he thinks PT will be better for him.

To this day Tarpey has put in the greatest individual performance I’ve seen against us. It was somewhat billed as tarpey v Rowe. The 2 best strikers in the division. Tarpey hit 4 and got a standing ovation when he was subbed. Absolute quality. Destroyed us. Then Barnet destroyed him

We didn't, he did his ACL two games in and that was that.

Yes, he lost a yard of pace after the injury and has never looked the same since.

Not a signing but Jimmy Smith is retiring from full-time football at the end of this season. So that's another player gone from our ever-dwindling squad.

250k not bad for a player that looked poor for several months last season before getting dropped.

Has the potential to go far though

Kelleher is a quality CB at this level, I'd have kept him on. Will be a good signing for any promotion chasing side down here.

We've weirdly offered Redmond a deal though I suspect at a much reduced amount, he's not been seen all season. I expect Young, Pearson and Dibble to re-sign fairly easily. Hopefully Lainton too, he is a top keeper down here.

2 very good centre backs available on a free there, Kelleher could have been a defender that we build the back line around, but these things happen. Reed's detailed analysis of the team in less than a day has obviously been thorough....

Some odd ones, mostly players like Reckord, Redmond and Dibble being kept on.

Kelleher and Vassell are both solid defenders for this level, but can we do better? definitely.

Chester love living off our scraps and any of the released players would be decent for them (jury out on Sang but he's young)

Southport already have their claws around Jay Harris and Paul Rutherford.

Mark Carrington's missus is absolutely loaded, I could see him giving Bury a helping hand.

Kelleher and Vassell will end up at clubs in this league for sure. I didn't rate Vassell that highly but he'd definitely do a job for a team at mid table (like us I suppose), while Kelleher could definitely start for a play-off hopeful team. We've only released him because it was a straight shootout between him and Pearson to keep their jobs and Pearson impressed late on in the season.

Wasn't impressed by Horsfield at all so he could end up at Chester and Sang would be more suited to regional level. I have little doubt that Marsh-Brown and Omotayo will be let go as well.

3 of the squad are youth players so likely to be loaned out .That leaves a squad of 13 so plenty of room for new signings.Must admit I would have released 3 or 4 others but we shall see

Coming up against Pearson will just feel so wrong for us, Russell Slade made many mistakes here but I think getting rid of Pearson has to be up there with his worst.

Pearson is injury prone these days. Have my doubts whether we should have offered him a contract to be honest but he's a club legend so they've felt obliged to probably. He is settled in the area so I really don't see him leaving but who knows what we've offered him, it might not work for him financially.

It was a bad decision but at the same time I hope Hurst doesn't read the fishy and try and sign loads of our ex players. I really don't get our fans obsession with signing ex players. They are ex players for a reason let's leave it that way.

Only time it's acceptable is if they are obviously too good for the league we are in. Wouldn't be against Bogle for example, but Pearson, no thank you, let's leave it with the memories whilst he was here.

Ricky Miller is leaving and looks like he’s heading to Southend, judging by his Twitter.
4 goals in 22, hardly set the world alight down here.

James Dunne is reportedly signing for Southend Utd. They’re welcome to him!

Whilst I do believe he was given the wrong role in MF this season and as such looked even worse, even 2 years ago you could tell he wasn’t up to scratch when we were playing under Currie.

Southend need to do better than Dunne.
