On the subject of budgets are there any bankrolled tinpotters down here anymore? When we were last here we had FGR and Eastleigh in that bracket and we did our Brotherhood duty by knocking them both out of the play offs, Eastleigh in 2015 and FGR in 2016.
Or will it just be the expected ex league teams with the bigger budgets?
It'll be interesting to see how many of the presumed wealthy clubs (brothers and otherwise) are REALLY prepared to spend big. This isn't bragging (well actually it probably is a bit) but we have been the one club over the last year or so that have been prepared to 'invest for success' on a grand scale. I doubt very much that going forward the Paddy Madden deal will be a one-off and if we do stay down I honestly doubt whether anyone else will be able to take us on in an 'arms race'. Of course having money to spend doesn't ensure success but it doesn't half help.

Sorry to put a dampener on this, but he’s awful (albeit was in League 1). Every time I’ve seen him play (not many as he’s made of glass), he gets bullied. Like a kid in a mans game! I hope it does work out for the lad but Hurst offering him only a 1 year contract is sensible.

I’ve heard that yourselves, Solihull & Wrexham are sniffing around Ryan Barnett who got released by us in the summer. Now that would be a very, very good signing for this level if you can pull that one out of the bag. I’d have offered him another year at Salop.

Cheers. He calls himself a physical player in his opening interview on our official site! Will reserve judgement on this until he plays. Hopefully the drop in level will do him good. Has he played at CB or RB when you've seen him? Hurst has a very solid record at bringing in full backs for us so I'm hoping he'll be able to work some magic with Sears. If not, he's a 21 year old on a one year deal, can't imagine he's on a big wage for us. Very much a season to prove himself.

Never heard of Ryan Barnett, what kind of player is he?

Would be interested to hear about Barnett too. We are still in limbo without a manager so doubt we would be making any signings, unless its someone Les Reed has identified as an up and comer

Is that them with the 14 year old chav as their Manager?

The Vanarama South is seemingly full of these sorts of people. MC Devvo managing Dorking, Tamplin was at Billericay, Steve King etc.

Sears mainly played at RB in the few games that we saw him but there was a game or two where he played CB aswell. He won’t shy from a tackle but that’s why he’s constantly injured.

Barnett is predominately a RM/RW but we’ve seen him play just off the strikers before. Quick, direct, isn’t afraid to take his man on and whip crosses in at the earliest he gets the chance to. One of those players where as soon as he’s on the ball within 40 yards of the opponent’s goal then everybody stands to their feet waiting for something to happen. Be a quality signing for this league but wouldn’t be surprised if League 2 clubs are sniffing aswell.

Confirmation of the worst-kept secret. He should do well for you but don't expect him to play more than 75% of games. He comes across as a moody so and so, don't expect loyalty - you're his 9 club in 12 years.

Bloody good finisher though, he certainly knows where the goal is.

More “injured” than injured this season I think.

That is certainly true. That links into my comment about loyalty - if he wants out he'll dig his heels in.

Local lad to that part of the world so I get it form that POV as well, no animosity from our fans to him going, just a shame we couldn't keep him.

Chris Dagnall leaving Yeovil to join Dicko at Hanley Town. He's got some impressive signings already for a club at that level, Louis Dodds already on board.

Look out for Dorking, they are bankrolled and will be in the NL in a couple of seasons.
Maybe it's time to pack up and go home if I club like Dorking can get a wealthy benefactor and a club like Halifax can't

I think the Dorking one is a bit random - something like he started them as basically a Sunday League club, and presumably became a rich business fella at some point.

Very notable Southend have in place a CEO for the first time in 6 years. Not only have we signed multiple players before the last week of pre-season but also they've been signed to short contracts rather than Ron just handing out 3 year deals to anybody who walked through the door.
Still meant to be 2-3 incoming in the next couple of weeks. In desperate need of actual strikers and most probably a keeper as it looks like Oxley is off to Harrogate. Way too many of the perpetual still in and about the squad though for me to be happy, I'm hoping for a completely new 16-18 matchday squad.

That's a bit out of left field, I honestly thought there was some substance around the Ryan Boot rumour, but I guess that's not happening now. I'll take it though if this lad is decent

Loach is good, but not sure I’d go that far. He’s no better than Slocombe is having seen both at Notts, and I wouldn’t say Sam was the best in the league. Decent ‘keeper though for sure.

Loach is a good signing. Not great at coming for crosses but a really good shot stopper and pretty consistent.

I think "Furlough" would look alright as the main shirt sponsor to be honest.

Hopefully someone at the club will look into it.
