Our 4 signings so far 6ft 4 , 6ft 3 and 6ft 1 x2 with possibly another 4 or 5 more to come in. Looks like we are going to have the biggest team we have ever had at this level. No more being bullied by other teams allowing our skillful players to do their thing

this is something i always noticed about the good teams coming to the racecourse, they always seemed so much bigger than our lot

maybe Keates had small man syndrome and didnt like anyone over 6ft

In a modern version of the Pinocchio story every time her father told a lie her neck grew a bit longer.

One time Conference MVP and Mansfield legend, Matt Green.
To be fair, I think that’s on you, lads ;) He has clearly gone well over the hill as he was good at Lincoln (first season) and Mansfield in league two

That seems a pretty good assessment.

I'm expecting Rowe to have a massive falling out with someone and leave Chesterfield under a cloud, he just seems that type. Whether that happens before or after he gets some success there is anyones guess. If they get a bit if luck with injuries their first choice team looks full of pace (Danny Rowe apart) and goals.

Stockport have added a bit of quality in Quogley and Whitfield to what was already a pretty good aide- but I have no idea how they are going to play them all their defence doesn't look as good as their attack and im still unsure about Rusk.

Notts County I think might well be the team to beat next season. I think they've made the best signings and I was impressed how Burchnall got them playing. That said they are a cursed team.
I keep seeing comments that our defence is not good enough which boggles the mind. We had the best defence in the NL last season and have not lost anyone out of it, only strengthened it with a League 1 standard centre back.

Our problem last season was scoring goals in critical moments and against those teams around us at the top of the league.

Our record against the teams that finished in the top 7 (including the Play offs) was:

P - 13
W - 3
D - 5
L - 5
F - 10
A - 14

The goals against category was badly affected by the 4-0 loss at Pools after Palmer got sent off for catching someone around the hip (although it's apparently fine for Holohan to stud Newby in the face and only get a yellow in the PO semi?!) and Rooney got sent off for saying something out of turn.

The 3 wins and 6 of the 10 goals scored came against Chesterfield (x2) and Bromley when they were both relegation fodder earlier in the season. So we only managed 4 goals in the other 10 games.

Add that to losing home and away to Weymouth (no offence intended).

Its going forward we need to strengthen. Defence is absolutely spot on.

Can only judge on the three games against us (and all were under Ardley so we were a very different team), but yeah I agree your defence looks sound. I thought you seemed to lack a bit of pace and individual trickery, to be honest. Seemed quite easy to defend against just by keeping your shape behind the ball.

Stockport County.
The defensive statistics are good but the set up of the team played a role in that. 3 at the back and 2 holders in midfield against most teams. That also affected our attack.

Jacob is right about pace and trickery, we had good players in attacking areas but a lot wanted the ball to feet and we seem to be too structured under Rusk when attacking.

Looking at Quigley, he's the exact player I wanted up front. Someone who was going to really change the dynamic up there. I'm hoping Whitfield can provide width and trickery but not 100% sure what type of player he is.

Personally I thought that Kitching was our most creative player when venturing forward, if he comes back this season in similar form I think that he will be a significant asset .

We had a good defence statistically (although we hurt those stats a lot with that crazy near end of season game vs Kings Lynn) but I wasn’t completely comfortable watching us defensively like I was the season before, we never seemed completely in control of our box and who’d have thought it would be Alex Reid of all people that would horribly highlight that

TBH I was thinking more in terms of the squad. Just on paper your defence doesn't look like it has the depth that's your attack has now. But thats just me looking at the names. I only saw you play a couple of times last season.

Well, I can’t argue with that one (assuming you get the Mullin of last season and not the previous six).

Well, if that’s not a lack of ambition.

What a waster.

What a statement of intent. I don’t think it’s about money, I think we’ve promised to name the stadium after him, whereas Cambridge only offered the stand. Fools

Wow. Think that proves that Wrexham probably weren’t in for Quigley or certainly not that bothered anyway. That’s a class signing that in Mullin.

The title race/top 7 could be mental. Some serious squads coming together.

There’s been some crazy signings in this league over the years but that’s right up there. Great signing.

Horrendously unambitious from him mind

Can't blame him moving to a bigger club to be fair.
