Plucky little Stockport, finding players who will play purely for the love of the club, and the promise of a hearty handshake at a job well done come the end of the season.

If they manage to win the league on a budget that is half the size of Woking then it will be a really impressive achievement.

Alty sign midfielder Ben Pringle from Morecambe, lots of EFL experience. 3yr contract on 3 packets of quavers a week  :gmc:

Don't expect him to run or tackle ever but get set for some top class corners, crosses and 50 yard passes.

We've signed Jordan Slew (striker) . He's had more clubs than I have hot dinners. Hasn't done much at any of them either. Smacks of a cheap option but I'll give him a chance

I love how every new signing is greeted with a “dear god” “Christ” “really. Why” ha ha ha. Even sir Danny Rowe got this treatment. Has anyone ever signed a good player at this level without criticism

Turned down bigger financial offers from Hartlepool, Accrington and Notts County. And that's right from the horses mouth.

It's a top 5 budget. I will grant the forum that. But no evidence of any higher.
When clubs come into money their fans tend to lose all sense of reality don’t they?

I thought it was just tinpot clubs who it happened to but it’s a shame to see Stockport and Wrexham fans fall into the trap.

I mean he certainly isnt a goalscorer but my 2 points would be..

There must be a reason someone paid 1 mill for him back in the day

He played consistently in promotions from league 2 for both Morecambe and Plymouth. Maybe he's the focal point that allows others to play off him to great effect.

He might end up being rubbish but it's a gamble we usually take and we have again..he'll get a chance from me.

Who have Wrexham signed apart from that mullings? I struggle to see how they’re the same price as the huge spending Stockport

Tom Whelan announced by Eastleigh - great signing for them. IMO a better player than Mandeville who we opted to keep over Whelan.
The thing with Mandeville is that ability wise he is streets ahead of most in this league in his position, his problem for me has been poor coaching. Before JR came in he was constantly played out of position, always coming far far too deep for a player like him who likes a lot of touches. The shite teams he was in didn’t help him either.

Since Feb/March time he has been excellent playing in that number 10 and scored some really important goals last year to get to the play offs (Halifax away, Eastleigh away etc..). I’ve got big hopes for him next season, he has to deliver really and fulfil that potential that people have been talking about since his Donny days!!

For cod sake these fish puns are getting so bad now, there's just no plaice for them here anymore.
Excuse me, but we signed Fish last week, it's old news. Barclay's the one we're talking about now, not somebody on loan. I know you'll end up getting withdrawal if you don't make jokes, but it doesn't hold anybody's interest so lend me your attention, give us all some credit and stop before you get a chequered history

He clearly has some talent but his application has not been anywhere near where it should've been.

I'm hopeful JR can get the best out of him - but even now I have to feel he will be second choice to Jack Clarke.

He’s only half decent when managed by Derek Adams. He’s also not a “ focal point” sort of player. He’ll play off the wing. The one thing he has got is pace. Not a lot else. Derek Adams must not of wanted him at Bradford.

I envisage him gracing the ‘shit strikers’ thread before long.

Southport have signed, Isaac Buckley-Ricketts, who has been on trial since the start of pre-season. Potentially the signing of the summer in the NLN, considering he won the European Under-19 Championship with England in 2017.
