They're owned by the fans. We know how that can end up. Supporters Trust often make poor owners IMO. They don't look at things coldly or rationally enough. It happened to us.

Barcelona are another recent example.

Sometimes you need someone who looks at it like a business and says "no" even if football supporters don't like that.

They are a charitable trust.

It means they don't pay taxes.

Cracking signing that. One of the best strikers in the league without a doubt. Chesterfield have to make top 3 minimum with that squad otherwise it’s a massive failure for me.

In the same breath, it just sums up our financial situation. Chesterfield sign Tshimanga whilst we are set to announce 4 unproven kids as in Wilds words we can’t compete in the current market.

Great signing, definitely Chesterfield's to lose now.
We've gone from not even top 3 squad to definitely the best team in the league in 1 signing  Tshimanga that good a player is he

We have a squad capable of competing with Wrexham and Stockport now, absolutely no question. But to suggest it’s ours to lose isnt quite the reality when both those clubs have spent the money that they have

We are merely competing ;)

You can't throw around £500k on a player and not expect to top the league now.

This signing has set some panic into our fan base and rightly so I’d say. Hursts apparent amazing ability to sign a striker (a myth IMO) is set to be put to the test in a big way

Anyway.....i know (more guessing) he's been Boringwood's top scorer for the last couple of seasons but what kind of player is he?

A poacher? Someone who runs in behind? Does he headbutt team mates?

I’ve explained this before on here but I’ll do it again as seems to be a few people misinterpreting our ownership model. We are NOT fan owned in the typical sense of a ‘Supporters Trust’ for example.

We are owned by a charity known as Chesterfield Community Trust, of which the majority of the directors are lifelong CFC fans, but they are all business men within many a different fields.

I don’t know the in’s and out’s of how the club is being financed, so I’m not going to pretend to. I just wanted to clear that misinterpretation up.

I'd be astonished if they are just playing YOLO with the clubs future as well. These are sensible men, long in the tooth and most crucially nice people with the club at heart. The Community Trust does lots of good work with drugs addicts, homeless and such like. Mike Goodwin is universally loved by all who've met him. They're just not the type to put the future of the club at risk with a 'you know what FUCK IIIIIT!' attitude

There are some goal reels on youtube of his time at Borehamwood where he seems to score a mixture of goals.

Have to say I think James Rowe has done some excellent business in this window - a midfield of Khan, Oyeleke, Jack Clarke sat behind a front 2 of Tshimanga and Danny Rowe is excellent for this level. Throw in King and Miller as wingbacks and we are going to be a good side.

That being said - plenty of teams have recruited well. Will be an interesting season where 3/4 will feel they have a great chance of winning the league.

Just let those who know nothing about the ownership have their fun mate. Plenty said it was shit or bust for us last season and yet here we still are… :dk: So I guess it’s this year instead now!!!

Anyway, that back up keeper, still needed. Once that’s sorted we’re ready and raring to go!

Without wanting to start another Tshimanga dunking, someone put some interesting stuff on our board on his record last season. Scored 15 of his 19 goals against the bottom eight, and more than half of his total goals just against Dover, Barnet, Wealdstone and King’s Lynn.

Result of playing in a team that didn’t attack the better teams enough, or a flat track bully?

The midfield Rowe has recruited is the main reason I’m excited about Tshimanga. He will get some serious service, then it’s just up to him to put the ball in the net

I thought we had discussed this before? Maidenhead will have it sewn up by mid-April.

Still a slight question around the defense, but there's a lot of goals in the side and I like the look of it for sure

You’re absolutely fuming about us signing him aren’t you:lol:

Im loving some of these agenda’s you’re trying to push, can’t wait to see what’s next! So far we’ve had… ‘Penalty merchant’ , ‘only scores against bottom 8’, ‘Kairo Mitchell better goal to game ratio’

Time will tell - but from my experience Borehamwood are a horrible defensive unit, and he still managed to score 19 goals in two consecutive seasons.

In our side, with this midfield - can see him scoring a hatful.

I don't want to look like I'm sounding overconfident as I still think the top 3 will take some cracking, nevermind the top spot itself which is surely Stockport/Wrexhams, but if anyone in this league has a better midfield 3 than Khan, Oyeleke, Clarke, then I'll be fucking terrified of it

To be fair to me, I did say when we were linked with him I couldn’t see it and we couldn’t fit him in. I wouldn’t swap our front three for anyone’s, it’s at the back where we’ll probably come unstuck.

I’ve found the stats stuff a lot more interesting since our takeover, I’m not making any of it up… IMO there’s enough there that I’d at least be a bit worried about.

Looks a good signing to me, especially once Asante is fit they should be a real handful.
It really is looking an ultra competitive league this season and one of Stockport, Wrexham, Chesterfield or us are going to run out of money before getting promotion I think.
We may not have the big names but there's no way we're breaking even either.
In our long term favour, the owners father is a billionaire, not just lottery Euro millions rich. If they leave, and they all do in the end, hopefully it won't leave us in the utter mess we were before they came. It isn't all that bad down here, still go to every game, go for a drink with friends after and am very happy that the club seems financially secure.
I don't think all four clubs are as secure as the money they're spending suggests. Both Stockport and Chesterfield look all in to me.

Agree with all of that.

I think we’re all in for promotion this year as well, but in a slightly different sense. There’s no way we’re keeping Rodrigues and Roberts beyond next summer (injury permitting obvs with the latter), and rebuilding without them would be very difficult. Should mean the financial side isn’t so much of an immediate concern, though.
